History Teacher – High school level
Teach Early American History (grade 10) and Modern World History (grade 9). Also taught Ancient World History (grade 9) and Advanced Placement Modern US History (grade 10), with all AP students receiving a passing grade of 3 or higher on the College Board exam. Teach Peer Leadership Program (most rewarding).
History & Social Sciences Department Chair
Led a 15 member department, composed of both veteran and non-veteran teachers. Conducted professional in-service seminars on such topics as curriculum mapping, interdisciplinary teaching, rubric development, writing and research for MCAS, and peer observation. Developed and monitored a 30K+ budget for textbook/supply purchases and professional development. Recruited, counseled, and evaluated all department members. Directed monthly collaboration seminars focusing on improving thesis writing and developing “best practices” for lower-level classes.
STEP-UP to Excellence
Serve as a mentor to a Latino student. The program’s mission is to assist students who are from low-income families and have demonstrated an academic need for guided mentoring.

Social Studies Teacher – Middle and high school level
Instructed five sections of Geography (grade 8) concentrating on the development of multi-cultural awareness and appreciation. Taught European (grade 11) and Modern American History (grade 12) courses focused on developing student writing and inductive reasoning. Encouraged student dialogue and fostered active participation by all members of the class.
Summer Youth Training and Readiness Employment Program Instructor
Instructed “at-risk” students in program aimed at enhancing academic and social skills. Coordinated and directed the development of curriculum materials with units on the building of social skills, self-esteem, proper nutrition, and career development. Participated with students in weekly community service activities ranging from planting crops for “Food for the Needy” to assisting the elderly population.
Peer Education Advisor
Provided students with the knowledge, skills, and training to design their own curriculum to be taught at the middle-school level. Addressed issues of drug abuse, eating disorders, and conflict resolution to be included in student curriculum.
