Member of the Run Team with the responsibilities of maintaining all Goodyear’s legacy mainframe (COBOL) applications: Wholesale Billing, Goodyear Retail Business Management System (GBMS), and Dealer Accounting System (DAS).

Troubleshooting and solving issues in a timely manner to ensure a successful monthly business cycle.

Assisted the accounting department with analysis, research, and correction of any accounting issues (invoices and taxes).

Monitored and assisted with the monthly and yearly closing cycle for the Retail application system.

Researched and documented the legacy Wholesale Billing system to assist with the retirement of the application.

Assisted with decommissioning of the GBMS and DAS applications.

Assisted Goodyear’s clients with the understanding of the mainframe applications and the data.

Created automatic processes for the mainframe to reduce manual processes and improved accuracy.

Created processes for loading data to and from COBOL applications to other platform applications:

Project Leader: Mentoring college graduates with the creation of GUI North American POL Ledger Reporting System.

Assisted the tax department and auditors with various tax-related needs. This includes the balancing of data records in the Ledger system. I also helped with the sub-systems that loaded data into the ledger. This included several feeds from General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Fixed Assets into the General Ledger Reconciliation System.

Responsible for transferring historical data from the legacy mainframe CONSCO application system into the new SAP Finance BFC consolidation system. Created a new monthly interface from the North America General Ledger to SAP. This resulted in decommissioning of a legacy COBOL application system.

Assisted with creating a GUI interface for the Fixed Asset application system. I created new government reports and files for the tax department. Conducted team cross-training on all the Accounting Systems. Created DB2 shadow files from various sub-systems to balance the data records in the General Ledger system.

Sr Technical Analyst (COBOL Developer) 2003 - 2004

Became solely responsible for maintaining the Fixed Asset (COBOL) applications.

Completed various process improvements to eliminate manual intervention and improve data accuracy.

oRewrote the General Ledger year-end and monthly process to eliminate manual intervention.

oCreated a mass update process to load assets from acquisition into the Fixed Asset application system.

oPerformed upgrades on the North America General Ledger system to handle the needs of a $10 billion company.

oManaged several outsource projects, such as the Exchange Rates application system. The application was used for a one-stop entry system to update exchange rates for several mainframes and server-based systems. This in turn helped to reduce manual processes and improved accuracy.

Technical Analyst I (COBOL Developer) 2002 - 2003

Became solely responsible for maintaining several legacy (COBOL) applications:

oGeneral Ledger, CONSCO (a Consolidation application), and Order and Shipping.

Developed an audit trail application system for tracking journal vouchers entered in General Ledger. This allowed for better traceability of data in the ledger for auditors and government agencies.

Made significant enhancements to the Budget system for departments to improve next year’s budget forecast.

Assisted with creating DB2 shadow files from IMS database and VSAM files. Shadow files were then used as tools for Real-Time reporting. I also wrote several new COBOL TELON and batch programs using SQL to create accounting reports like Balance Sheet, Income Statements, Account Balances and Departmental Budget Reports.

Created TELON Programs to download data from the mainframe into Excel to give the accountants better analytical tools.
