As a Human Resource Assistant I completed all pay and personnel actions for several assigned organizations. I processed personnel actions for employees in excepted service and competitive service. I was responsible for coding SF-52, Request for Personnel Action, by reviewing action, verfiying accuracy, completeness and legality of proposed action in accordance with the Guide to Processing Personnel Actions. I determined appropriate Nature of Action Code, corresponding remarks and verifying accuracy of pay setting, reviewed DOE F 3511.1, Position Description, for completeness. I independently prepared and processed all supporting data on new, transferring, and separating employees; which included furnishing and/or requesting Personnel transfer data(SF-75), requesting Official Personnel Folders(OPF) and electronic Official Personnel Folders (e-OPF), medical, training, and performance records; releasing OPF and e-OPF on separated employees by forwarding to employing office in compliance with the Guide to Processing Personnel Actions. I determined computation dates for leave accrual, retirement and reduction in force, pay setting, tenure, terminating life and health insurance when appropriate, established OPF's and prepared a wide range of required processing documents. I was also responsible for providing new employee orientation, counseling on entitlements to employee benefits. I independently determined eligibility for within-grade increase, conversion to career, completion of probationary period, life and health benefits, retirement, veteran preference, service computation dates for leave accrual, retirement and reduction in force, ect.
I worked independently in dealing with all levels of NNSA employees, HR Staffing Consultants, other agency employees and private sector individuals to resolve problems.
