IZZY EICHENSTEIN
Temple Emanuel board member Izzy Eichenstein is president and owner of The Oakstone Company, a prominent developer of industrial properties primarily located adjacent to Los Angeles International Airport. Izzy founded The Oakstone Company in August 1988 as an investment vehicle for his family and his clients. The Oakstone Company has handled several million square feet of transactions over the two+ decades including the largest industrial sale in the history of Los Angeles International Airport, The United States Customs Center for which Izzy was the principal facilitator. Izzy was also the facilitator on behalf of owner/developer Rick Caruso (whose properties are now known as Caruso Affiliated Holdings) for the development of the largest Carl’s Jr. restaurant in the country, which also was the first fast food restaurant to locate along the LAX corridor. As a landlord, Izzy has managed properties for many prestigious companies including the hit TV series “CSI Miami” and Dollar Rent A Car at LAX.
Prior to founding The Oakstone Company, Izzy served as Acquisitions Manager for the Kibel,Jonas Investment Group at LAX, which acquired, purchased and managed industrial buildings in the LAX industrial area. While serving in that capacity, Izzy helped assemble one of the largest industrial portfolios in the history of LAX. Born and raised in Chicago, Izzy attended Columbia University in New York where he majored in psychology. After falling ill with mononucleosis during his college years, he moved back to Chicago to recuperate. During that time, he met and married his wife Rita, with whom he recently celebrated 34 years of marriage. The couple has three children: David, Josh, and Deanie, each of whom attended Temple Emanuel Day School. David is married and lives in New York where he works as an advertising executive for Fox. Josh is in law school and recently served as a representative for Temple Emanuel’s delegation to the AIPAC Conference in Washington, D.C. Deanie is currently a pre- school teacher at Temple Isaiah. His wife is a psychologist, Dr. Rita Eichenstein, and has served as chairperson for the Israel Matters Committee at Temple Emanuel. Over the past few years, the Eichenstein Family has sponsored an educational lecture series at the Temple in memory of Izzy’s late mother, Sarah Eichenstein. In addition to serving as a board member for the past three years, Izzy heads the Temple’s Religious Affairs Committee and plays in the position of catcher on Temple Emanuel championship Softball Team.
Outside of the Temple, Izzy has served as a board member on the executive committee of AFFA (Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America). And following in the footsteps of his late father Rabbi Moses Eichenstein, who served as a chaplain for over 50 years at Chicago’s Mt. Sinai and Columbus Hospitals, Izzy was a volunteer chaplain for Cedars Sinai Hospital in L.A. for many years.
