-Led the cable, landline and wireless communications industry cooperation efforts during disasters with the electric industries and Edison Electric Institute across the United States. -Facilitates and manages the overall coordination for planning, priority setting, and implementation and validate training exercises of business continuity plans within Divisions, Regions and business units and assures plans are developed, documented and comply with applicable business continuity guidelines.
-Partner with local management teams to conduct location risk assessments to identify potential threats and coordinates the development of recommendations to management on implementing appropriate strategies to mitigate or minimize the threat of the potential risks.
-Partner with business units in conducting business impact analyses to assess how well technology strategies align with business unit requirements and identify potential gaps. Conducted 500+ BIAs and developed 525 BCP plans for critical facilities across the Northeast Division. Implemented a FLS safety and Security audit program.
-Partner with Division/Regional Senior Leadership Teams and business unit to implement standards and guidelines that assure mission critical business operations and services are designed, deployed, and supported based upon their value to the business.
-Design and conduct exercises to assure business unit strategies and plans can be executed as designed and to train teams in the execution of those strategies to assure roles, responsibilities and plans are clearly understood.
-Assure all plans and strategies are documented and kept current. Identify new methodologies, strategies and tools to improve or mitigate Comcast’s reliability and strategic plans.
-Represent Comcast in professional organizations and works with business concerns that provide business continuity planning services to enlist their expertise in supporting the company’s evolving business needs. Testified and presented on Comcast behalf during Department of Public Utilities meetings. Currently, the Comcast liaison with the NCC, DHS, federal and local agencies.
-Develop and implement emergency action plans which included a floor captain program, fire drills, testing of fire prevention equipment (fire suppression systems, fire extinguishers, emergency exit lightning and smoke detection systems.
-Partner with Comcast business units and regional/divisional to standardize methodologies, processes, templates (Incident Management Structure and Headend Playbooks) and tools for Comcast business continuity initiatives (NC4, Archer).
-Coordinate closely with the regional/divisional/corporate teams or facilitated the response to disasters (Hurricanes Irma, Harvey, Sandy and Irene), significant incidents (DNC – Philadelphia, DNC - Boston) or disruption.
-Provide leadership in assessing, developing, coordinating and communicating the development of an integrated incident management and emergency preparedness for Comcast business entities.
-Act as technical consultant and project manager for developing, maintaining, documenting and exercising disaster response and recovery plans for technical functions such as IT and Engineering within the video, high speed data, and telephony product lines; Develop emergency response team and procedures for response and recovery efforts. Perform risk analysis on all critical facilities and technical equipment to ensure compliance with Federal, State and local regulations (OSHA, EPA, NFPA) and provide recommendations to minimize financial and/or regulatory liabilities.
-Facilitate or review After Action Reviews following major incidents or upon completion of table-top exercises to assess management’s response efforts, identify lessons learned and gaps that need to be incorporated into the business entities plan. Also present a report of findings and recommendations to the appropriate business unit management team.
-Thorough understanding on how Comcast business entities operate on a business as usual basis and during incidents/crisis.
-Develop and implement national programs to assist the regions/divisions/national teams as well as other business units.
Major Accomplishments at Comcast:
-Provided SME leadership for crisis impacting incidents to Comcast’s Call Centers, Headends, technical and administrative facilities.
-Provided SME guidance to the divisional, regional and national sales teams regarding compliance with customer related BCP issues.
-Coordinated the development and implementation of Incident Management Plans. Assisted in publishing BCP Guidelines for the Security Industry’s ASIS Association.
-Act as the Comcast Liaison for federal, state, regional and local emergency management agencies.
-Prepared documentation and Testified at state PUCs regarding Comcast’s Emergency Response plans.
-Introduced BCP program to the Northeast Division in 2001.
