PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA Research Assistant 2014 – 2022 Vancouver, Canada

Projects:

• Semi-Symmetric Matrix Decomposition implemented with Python and Macaulay2: Conducted research on the problem of semi-symmetric matrix decomposition that has application in machine learning such as in matrix completion or topic modeling. Deduced an algorithm to find a close semi-symmetric matrix to a given matrix and implemented in Python and Macaulay2.

• Project with Java: Implemented an application on Java to manage inventory of stores. Users can add and remove items or change features of items (such as quantity, price, etc.). Used JTable class to display inventory. https://github.com/sezar543/Java-project

• Data Analysis project with RStudio: data manipulation with dplyr, graphing with ggplot2, Tidy data, model fitting with linear regression, version control.

https://github.com/sezar543/Stat545a

• RShiny application: created an RShiny application that gives a few options (price, alcohol content, and product name) to filter the data of liquor stores and it visualizes results in a table or a plot. https://github.com/sezar543/Stat545b

UNIVERSITY OF CONCORDIA Research Assistant

2012 Montreal, Canada

• Performed research and developed an algorithm to verify correctness of the Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer conjecture (a Millennium Prize Problem) in a more general setting and implemented it on an open-source mathematics software system, called SAGE, and computed many new instances of the conjecture. INRIA Researcher in Applied Mathematics

2010 Sophia Antipolis, France

• Created and implemented in C++ generalized Midpoint Method and Newton’s Method in order to solve symmetric tensors decomposition.

• Applied a comparison metric for methods’ evaluation.

• Wrote an essay explaining the problem, the two algorithms with few examples testing the algorithms.

RAYAVARAN Research Assistant

2012 Montreal, Canada

• Performed research and developed an algorithm to verify correctness of the Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer conjecture (a Millennium Prize Problem) in a more general setting and implemented it on an open-source mathematics software system, called SAGE, and computed many new instances of the conjecture. 1
