TECHNICAL PROJECTS AND ACADEMIC PORTFOLIO
Design and Fabrication of Automatic Sand Filtering Machine
(Minor Project)
• Collaborated with a team of 4 students with a vision to build a portable sand filtering machine.
• Designed and built an unbalanced rotating shaft responsible for vibration generation and several machine elements like springs and bearings.
• Developed a design model using AutoCAD.
• Performed hands-on activities to develop the prototype of the model. Design and Fabrication of an Electric Wheelchair
(Major Project)
• Led the mechanical design team intending to create a mobility aid with a focus to make it more compact by introducing telescopic grid beams which help to reduce the height at different levels.
• Redesigned the wheelchair frame using SOLIDWORKS.
• Machined several components using the mill, lathe, and drill press, and performed Shielded Metal Arc Welding over the frame.
• Performed Static structural analysis over the newly designed frame using Ansys.
• Worked with Arduino Uno and PMDC motor controller. Computer – Aided Design
Siemens NX
• Led a team of 3 and designed a Mountain Bike consisting of 32 unique components and 8 subassemblies.
Applied Finite Element Analysis
LS – Dyna
• Generation of a structured refined mesh over a solid I – section beam.
• Implicit and Explicit Analysis for a double mass-spring system under a transient force.
• Mesh sensitivity study over a square plate with a hole to observe the solution’s convergence by validation of numerical results against theoretical ones.
• Axial crushing and bending analysis of multi–celled columns with an aim to determine the structure more resistant towards axial and lateral deformation.
• Cantilevered – deformation over a composite member consisting of 4140 HT Steel and AA7075- T7 Aluminum.
• Eigenvalue analysis for a structural member.
Finite Element Analysis of Composite Structures
Ansys Composite
• Simulation to investigate the influence of stacking sequence of the plies over a stiffened panel.
• Analysis over a wind turbine blade ensuring no failure of the composite part using the First ply Failure (FPF) approach by identification of feasible layup.
• Optimization of a helicopter driveshaft by changing the thickness of the plies to obtain a weight- efficient layup.
• A study of the change in deformation of each composite laminate with change in fiber orientation angle.
• Research Project on Virtual Crack Closure Technique (VCCT). Computational Fluid Dynamics
OpenFOAM
• Generated a simulation model over a research paper “Time-resolved wake dynamics of finite wall- mounted circular cylinders submerged in a turbulent boundary layer.”
• Generation of computational meshes using CFD codes and monitoring the convergence of the simulation.
