Serving as the Director of Operations of a mechanical engineering consultation firm that serviced some of the most technologically advanced companies in Silicon Valley for over 20 years:
Creative Alliance Design - Felton, CA - Director of Operations - 01/1985 to 01/2006
As the Director of Operations for Creative Alliance Design, a Mechanical Design Engineering consultation firm that serviced the aerospace, bio-medical, and computer industries, responsibilities included all day-to-day operations and the management of staff. The core business of Creative Alliance Design was serving the Semiconductor Equipment Manufacturing Industry for such clients as Applied Materials, Lam Research, Novellus Systems, and Varian Associates. Other clients included, Directed Light Incorporated, Fairchild Corporation, Mercury Diagnostics Incorporated, Metcal Incorporated, MicroBar Systems Incorporated, Ontrak Systems Incorporated, Raychem Corporation, and Seagate Technology.
Mechanical Design Engineering Experience with Creative Alliance Design: Mechanical Design Engineering was conducted for such companies as Applied Implant Technology (designing ion implant systems), Aydin Energy Division (designing high-voltage power distribution apparatus), Granger Associates (designing telecommunication equipment), IBM Corporation (designing hard drive tooling), Petrophysical Services (designing high-pressure core sampling equipment), Silicon Valley Group (designing wafer handling mechanisms), Surface Science Laboratory (designing high-vacuum surface analyzer equipment), Tandem Computers (designing mainframe packaging), Tymshare Corporation (mainframe chassis designs) and Varian Associates (designing high-vacuum pumps).
Semiconductor Manufacturing Equipment Design Experience with Creative Alliance Design: Designed gas delivery systems for semiconductor cluster processing tools and introduced solid modeling into the conceptual design phases to ensure form, fit, and function. The solid modeling techniques employed were primarily used where line lengths, tube volumes, and footprints were as paramount as reliability and manufacturing costs. Solid modeling was a tool instituted to ensure client satisfaction and design integrity. Such gas delivery systems improved functionality, increased reliability, and reduced processing costs. Designed a wide range of enclosures for semiconductor equipment where such designs had to utilize various manufacturing techniques to achieve functionality as well as aesthetics and minimize fabrication costs. Oversaw prototype fabrications and coordinated the assemblies to ensure quality, cleanliness, and potential defects within extreme environments. Designed semiconductor wafer orientation mechanisms where such designs required the mechanisms exist within hostile environments and that the mechanical and electrical component being analyzed was highly reliability. Additionally, speed and acceleration curves were calculated and all production documentation was executed using GD&T standards. Was the chief technical and marketing representative for entire projects of this nature and coordinated the fabrication of such mechanisms and assemblies on schedule and within the allotted budgets.
