****-****: ARC in Southern California, Sheltered Workshop. Management called me in to the office to ask how I motivated my team. My team of disabled clients (Down’s, Brain Damage, and Autistic) was out performing every other higher functioning team led by leaders with College Degrees. I had no experience and no degree. My answer (shortened for this resume) was, “I love them! I coach them to interact with each other with kindness, and to perform with excellence.”
1992-96: Managed Nutrition and Body Care dpts. for Wild Oats/Whole Foods Natural Market at Union and Academy. Hired, inspired and managed staff of 12. Brought my dept. to #1 in the nationwide company. Scheduled weekly staff product trainings, monthly inventory, all sales and displays.
1996 to 2010: Served the elderly in the capacity of trained and certified caregiver in Assisted Livings, hospitals and client’s homes. Distributed meds, lovingly cared for and monitored well-being of residents on all levels. Filled out reports for care plans and responsiveness of client to care plan. Worked as a team with medical staff.
2011 to Nov. 2014: I worked for “Stellar Care and Services” as an Adult Mentor with Developmentally Disabled Adults. I created a fun and educational weekly activity calendar for my team, assisted in formulating goals for each individual, and lovingly monitored and supported each in making progress toward their goals.
I charted behavior, mood, interaction and well-being on all levels at the end of each day, turning in this record online at the end of the week. I met with State Level Case Managers and families to assess clients and to recommend goal, behavior, ISP and assistance modifications.
I taught a Nutrition Class for Stellar staff and clients, every 6 months or so. I love sharing my knowledge and inspiring others to better life choices.
I created warm, supportive and trusting relationships with families and host homes.
In 2012, I received the ARC Award for Outstanding Day Program Facilitator
