I was a Family Service Counselor for Dignity Memorial, my home base being Serenity Gardens Memorial Park and Funeral Home in Largo, FL. I also worked out of Garden Sanctuary in Seminole, FL and Beach Memorial in St. Pete, FL.
My responsibilities were to make and set pre need sales appointment’s. Attend at need arrangement conferences along side the Funeral Directors and follow up with the families after their loved one’s services were held for an after care visitation appointment. I was responsible for pre need funeral sales as well as cemetery sales. At the time of at need if no cemetery property had been purchased, it was my responsibility to show the familial their options throughout the cemetery. Also it was my responsibility at the time of At need, if there was property already purchased, to take the family to the site and either flag the space where their loved one would be placed or set up blue tape on the niche or crypt and sign that I had taken the family out to the site. Also at that time I made sure that the next of kin signed the internment order of authorization form, then issue a blind check for another counselor to double check my work. I also did blind checks for other counselors to double check their work. I was responsible for putting together cemetery packets which included the cemetery notification form, the internment order of authorization form and the blind check. Maintenance handled the IRLA once they received my cemetery packets. I was responsible for giving park tours, attending the graveside services of the families that I worked with and at times also facilitated the services only in regards of letting families know that the service would be starting and when it had concluded. I was responsible for manning the graveside, be it internment, inurnment or entombment. I am IVT certified. I also have my life insurance license as well as my pre need and at need license. I was responsible for utilizing Sales Force as well as HMIS and Beacon. I was responsible for following up with families after sales appointments and also helping families that would just walk in the door looking to sit down to get some information about pre planning.
