Books

Manual of Vascular Access, 2010. University of Dammam, Saudi Arabia RESEARCHES

1) Lower Gastro-intestinal Bleeding. Thesis submitted in partial fulfillment for the Master Degree of General Surgery, Mansoura University. EGYPT. 2) Acute Non-traumatic Lower Limb Ischaemia. Thesis submitted in partial fulfillment for PhD General Surgery Mansoura University. EGYPT. I carried out this research in the vascular unit, Glasgow Royal Infirmary. It covered two main topics

A) Causes of acute lower limb ischaemia.

B) Comparative study between surgery and thrombolysis in acute lower limb ischaemia.

During this research I spent long time in the vascular radiology suite. I am now familiar with the techniques of both diagnostic and intervention vascular radiology. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / TRAINING

Since graduation and all through the medical career, has been:

-Performing personally or assisting junior staff members in a wide variety of major and minor vascular surgery with an O.R list twice weekly, average 8-10 cases per list, including

-Arterial bypasses such as Aorto-bifemoral, Fem-pop bypasses, embolectomies, repair of vascular injuries, venous surgery. Balloon angioplasty, lympho-venous shunts for lymphoedema, angio access for haemodialysis … besides G,S procedures (as herinorraphy, thyroidectomy, appendectomy, abd. exploration etc…)

-Heavy experience in Endovascular Techniques (PTA, stenting local thrombolysis, IVC filters etc …).

TEACHING EXPERIENCE:

7

During the last 35 years I have been working in teaching hospitals (8 years in UK). I have gained teaching experience by active involvement in providing lectures, tutorials and bedside teaching for medical students. After getting FRCS I have been also involved in the teaching program of House Officers and Senior House Officers and other postgraduate students. I am organizing the basic and advanced surgical skill courses, Faculty of Medicine, University of Dammam. Al-Dammam, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
