Re: Profesional Motor Coach Operator
Attn: Human Resources
I am a disabled (retired) New Orleans Firefighter, and I’m interested in obtaining employment as a Supervisor/Manager. My experience, education, and management skills make me an excellent candidate for employment. I have authored (You and the New Orleans Fire Department) an established a program geared towards Fire Prevention and actions within the home that myself, and volunteers, performed throughout schools, community centers in New Orleans, and it was annexed into the New Orleans Fire Department. The program was renamed EDITH (Exist Drills inside the Home) during my tenure. I successfully negotiated passing scores on several promotional examinations (Fire Captain and Apparatus Engineer), however my injury caused me to leave before promotions were made. Subsequently the lists expired.
I have served in a supervisory capacity on countless occasions within the fire stations, during fire scenes, and instructor of training seminars. I have certifications in Fire Technology, Rescue Operations, and Marine Firefighting.
My training and education in Fire Technology was extensive. It included Fire prevention and Inspection, Incident Command, Training and Promotions, Rescue operations and Extrications, Hazardous materials and Placarding, Fire scene operations, as well as many other mandatory disciplines pertaining to Fire Prevention and Suppression.
I worked in this capacity for twelve years. Until my injuries served to discontinue my career as a firefighter, however; I moved on and began working within the mental health community.
I, and my staff, created the Rainbow Resource Center for consumers of mental health services. Our goals were established a program to assisted our members with developing achievable goals through self-empowerment, self-awareness, education, and building self-confidence. In doing so, we were able to positively impact the lives of our membership. By way of our example’s centers were acquired all throughout Louisiana’s ten regions. We met our goals via listening to our members, accuracy and dedication, fulfilling all daily objective, remaining in compliance by fulfilling all contract deliverables. We were able to establish a process of continuity.
My tenure with the New Orleans Fire Department and at the Rainbow Resource Center allowed be to use my knowledge and managerial skills. Management control and fiscal responsibility were strictly adhered to and timelines were met. My fire services career, in particular, allowed me to exercise management controls over the fire prevention and inspection programs, including educational promotion activities, school district and city personnel and New Orleans residents, fire prevention activities, seasonal campaigns, and regularly scheduled inspections of facilities. I also possess great ingenuity and skill with creating and implementing fire protection and inspection programs and assuming command of a fire scene.
I received my formal education at Saint Leo University where I pursued an undergraduate degree in business administration until Hurricane Katrina. While at Saint Leo’s, I was able to complete 57 semester hours with an ending GPA of 3.58, and held an occasional position on the Dean’s List.
Respectfully,
Mr. Robin Washington
