Developing a cost-e ective Vehicle Detection and Height estimation module using Deep Learning (Mask-RCNN) and Computer vision.

The module will be implemented on bridges for continuous monitoring & warning to prevent Bridge strike with overheight trucks.

Being cost-e ective, it can be easily installed on bridges and help saving huge maintenance cost for DOTs. Cleaned and modi ed the NBI database having about 20,000 bridge inspection records. Developed an executable desktop program in MATLAB AppDesigner for bridge deterioration modeling based on Weibull Analysis which outputs the required parameters for BrM AASHTOWare software . The program will assist NYSDOT in estimating annual maintenance budget. Developed a smart sounding device for damage detection with advanced signal processing modules to lter signal noise (EMD) & perform damage classi cation in frequency domain (PSD, MHS).

The device is combined with tracking camera to automate the gridding process, saving hours and manual e orts. It was tested on concrete deck, and found to be e ective, fast in damage detection and accessible in higher elevation without risking safety. RELEVANT COURSE PROJECT
