JOB DESCRIPTION AS STAFF NURSE:
• Performs quick and accurate initial assessment on the patient’s overall appearance and mental condition upon receiving the patient. She/he then classifies the patient in a prioritized manner And observes the principles of triage in which they are classified according to the urgency of medical attention.
• Collects current symptoms, as well as a detailed patient history and then consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans
• Documents changes in health status of the patient i.e. ECG, CVP, GCS
• Manages basic life support needs and stabilizes patients until the attending physician is available based on the nursing protocols and standards
• Works directly under physicians, assisting them during exams, diagnostic testing and treatments
• Prepares and administers (orally, subcutaneously, through an IV) and records prescribed medications.
• Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with the policy regarding the administration of medications
• Provides IV therapy such as IV cannulation, intraosseous, external jugular cannulation
• Cleans and bandages wounds
• Provides basic bedside care
• Administering emergency procedure e.g. code blue and CPR
• Assisting in different emergency medical procedures such as intubation, ICD insertion, central line insertion, NGT and IFC insertion, permicathinsertion, DPL, lumbar puncture, ascetic tapping,
