Legal Technician, Department of Army, U.S. Army Legal Services Agency and US Department of Army Trial Defense Services, (January 2008-Dec 2014); US Army Court of Criminal Appeals, Clerk of the Court )

I am the liaison for the U.S. Department of Army Trial Defense Services and US Army Court of Criminal Appeals, Clerk of the Court; I receive Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Act request for record of trial, physician reports/medical records, transcripts of trial, military forms, dates of specific incidents, from military personnel and military family members, civilians, law enforcement, etc. I am responsible for organizing all incoming and outgoing correspondence. In a timely manner, I maintain and prepare Freedom of Information (FOIA) and Privacy Act request through database system (FACTS) on a daily basis as well as the National Archives Records Center.

I prepare researches for general court martial or certified convictions packets from historical files pertaining to World War I and III, German and Italian, PW/POWs. Keep log of database record of trial ordering from the National Archives Record Center. Prepare certified conviction packet with the original General Court-Martial Order, Stipulation of Facts, Recommendation of the Staff Judge Advocate, Promulgating Order, Decision of the United States Court of Military Review, Orders, etc. I am responsible for locating accession numbers and accessing record of trials through Army Criminal Military Information Service (ACMIS), as well as historical files –WWI and WWII, locate court martial numbers, research accession numbers and social security number, date of birth, or dates of court martial.

In a timely manner, I calculate pages of record of trial for request being processed. Expeditiously, prepare Cash Collection Voucher for fees paid for record of trial; forward payments made out to the Department of Treasury through the Budget Analyst, in the Administrative Division. I am a conscientious worker; I maintain quality and effiency in my work as a Legal Technician. My solid work ethics and contributions have made me greatly appreciated as a team member. As well as ordering records through the Archives and Records Centers Information System . Responsible for Xerox and scanning, annotating/redacting record of trial for Privacy Act Information such as social security numbers, addresses, victim’s name, date of birth, etc. Also I am responsible for ordering records of trial for the Army Review Board Agency (ARBA) and Court Operations Branch and other agencies throughout the, Department of Defense, Department of Army, and various federal government law enforcement agencies, etc.

Keep records of inter-office filing procedures such as, Public Inquiries, Defense Appellate Division, Government Appellate Division, Notice of Court-Martial Order Correction, Order and Appeals. I have accurately responded and prepared various Freedom of Information request for military inmate responses, through their attorneys or family members corresponding with information forwarded though other agencies request or privacy act request.

TEMPORARY CONTRACTED ASSIGNMENTS

Department of Commerce, Office of Budget, Washington, D.C. - Office Manager - May 2008-August 2008 - I prepare Congressional correspondence, clearances and briefing informational packets for the Director of Budget, Chief Financial Officer, Assistant Secretary for Administration, attorneys and expert analysts. I organize and update the schedules for the Director, calendaring appointments, conferences and teleconferences. I am responsible for opening/closing control sheets and updating daily Congressional correspondence and clearances in WebCims and Microsoft Excel tracking system.

General Services Administration Office of Personal Property Management -- Administration Assistant -- March 2007- May 2008-On a daily basis I schedule meetings and appointments, conferences/teleconferences and travel arrangements. I am responsible for preparing time and attendance, billing and accounting procedures. My daily responsibilities also include preparation, organization and distribution of General Service’s brochures to appropriate regional offices or work site for training procedures as well as Career Expo’s for presentation. I am also responsible for responding to customer service calls for brochures in reference to the Federal Surplus Property Donation Program, GSA Auctions, Public Sale and Personal Property Disposal Guide. Also I handle the preparation of daily correspondence and filings for Foreign Gifts.

National Transportation Safety Board, Office of General Counsel -- Program Support Assistant, July 2007 – November 2007--Responsible for screening and greeting visitors, schedule and calendar all appointments of the General Counsel. Prepare Opinions and Orders affecting airman and seaman licenses. Organize Notations for enforcement cases and subpoenas. Schedule and organize cases in suspense task opening and closing of cases. Also update database log in Excel for all accident case, aviation, marine, motor, rail, pipeline and hazardous materials. I am responsible for handling all deposition, organization and preparation of files and research of aviation synopses queries reports. Create filing systems and database tracking system in General Counsel (GC.log) inbox.

District of Columbia Public Schools, Office of General Counsel - Paralegal Assistant - June 2007 – July 2007--Prepare data log of all Special Education Student cases in Access, handle all incoming and outgoing cases in reference to students with disabilities.
