• Manage the special event permitting process; review applications, facilitate planning meetings, arrange city services, estimate costs, review required documents such as insurance policies for adequate coverage, execute final agreements, complete site visits, and conduct post event assessments. I also manage event calendars, social media, and assist with website content.

• Create and revise forms, policies, and procedures and incorporate current technology.

• Present to city council on projects I initiate.

• Respond to media requests for interviews and information regarding events and parks.

• Work closely with the Venice Police Department, FDOT, and the United States Coast Guard when an event impacts local roadways or will involve waterways/bridges.

• Act as the city liaison between city departments and local agencies and organizations such as Sarasota County, FPL, FDEP, FWC, UF/IFAS, FDOT, the Chamber of Commerce, Venice Community Center, William H. Jervey Jr. Public Library, Venice Main Street Inc. and others.

• Coordinate services with Sarasota County Parks, Recreation, and Natural Resources on events held at county maintained parks located within the city.

• Work with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection to ensure ‘special’ use of grant funded properties satisfies the terms of management agreements and restrictive covenants.

• Act as the administrator of SeeClickFix, the system citizens use to report concerns to the city. I manage all user accounts, configure settings, and analyze data. I ensure issues are routed to the appropriate department or investigate and respond directly as needed.

• Assume responsibilities in the absence of the Assistant City Manager and the Public Information Officer which includes resolving complaints with businesses, managing the city website and social media accounts, writing and editing press releases, and communicating information to the public and staff.
