Genesis Project - Direct Care Worker; Jones, Oklahoma May 2022 – July 2022
● Provided therapeutic services for boys ages six through twelve placed in the Department of Human Services custody who demonstrate aggressive and impulsive behavior.
Implemented trauma-informed treatment that recognizes traumatic experiences as it has impacted the child's mental health and aims to address the individual's needs.
Certified in Management of Aggressive Behavior to de-escalate and manage irrational behavior. Learned the boys' triggers and comforts that were useful in understanding what provokes hostility while using a tool or method to control behavior.
Assisted these young men in their daily living skills that they were not previously taught. I trained an eight year old and ten year old boy to use the restroom instead of disposable underwear. I encouraged proper hygiene and introduced self care using positive reinforcement.
