Hostler / Yard Goat Driver

I was responsible for locating and moving shipping containers, 20', 40', 45', and trailers up to 53' to and from warehouse so the warehouse staff could unload and load the units in preparation for transport to locations throughout the United States. I was also certified to operate forklifts as needed. Radios were used by all of the Hostler drivers to coordinate scheduled moves throughout the yard.

Warehouseman

Responsibilities included operating forklifts, overhead radio controlled cranes, processing

steel parts as they came off the cutting tables to remove slag and burrs. duties also included

operating a fifty ton hydraulic press to flatten steel parts up to one and a half inches thick.

Radios were also used for communication at this facility.

Using overhead radio controlled cranes I safely moved airplane parts, wing skins, from station

to station. I also unloaded finished parts from the milling machines. Doing my own

rigging and tag line tending.

Assembly Line Mechanic

My work environment required me to be flexible in being a key member in the manufacture of

Off-Highway trucks, (large trucks not intended for over the road use). I did major assembly work and mechanical tasks to meet the required goals for that day. My skills would often be

used in other areas of the fabrication facility.

While building many various types of holding fixture, templates and jigs using air powered hand tools, magnetic base drills, precision measuring tools, I also used radio controlled overhead cranes to install the fixtures and jigs.

Repairing customer vehicles and interacting with the customer to help them, and myself, to what their concerns were. They would explain the issue they had about their vehicle, then I would estimate the cost of the repairs.

I held this position while doing pre-employment training for The Boeing Company.

I subsequently left to work for The Boeing Company.
