Biography: Hello, my name is Kaitlin Carter, RN BSN. I started as a medical assistant for a primary care provider, became a pharmacy technician, and then became an RN. I held a variety of nursing jobs to obtain a breadth of experience to ensure that I become the best nurse that I can be. I was planning to further my education to become a Family Nurse Practitioner; however, due to my Epilepsy I feel as if it safest for patients and for myself to continue as an RN. Duties: Previously was working in the observation unit where patients are retrieved from the emergency room and held for observation prior to admissions or as we await laboratory results. We are responsible for vital signs, stability of the patients, and giving any medications needed while implementing thorough assessments and continuation of triaging their needs while in our care. Currently, I am working in the Fever and Flu Clinic at HH. Job duties consist of patient data entry of orders for testing and results. The job requires training in the ED observation unit, the ER admissions unit, and the Fever and Flu Clinic. Charting consisted of: initial nursing histories, assessing patients' conditions and developing individual care plans while maintaining accurate patient documentation. I was transferred between all units as needed.
