1975-1983

Newberry Regional Mental Health Center (Hwy 123 Newberry Mi, 49868)

• Held position as a Resident care aide under RN supervision. This included all the direst mental and basic care for psychiatric patients. This included developmentally disabled and mentally ill patients.

1987-1988

OSF St. Francis Hospital (3401 Ludington St., Escanaba Mi, 49829)

• Position was on primary surgical floors as RN. Supervised my wing with 2-5 LPN on staff. Also rotated to medical floor as needed. RN duties were to assess and care for patients direct from surgery to discharge. Duties included administration of medication; oral, IV, or topical. Dressing changes were prominent as many different types of surgeries were performed. The medical unit was also related to the same duties but care more for disabled and convalescent patients.

1988-1992

Newberry Regional Mental Health Center (Hwy 123 Newberry Mi 49868)

• RN on psychiatric admissions unit. This was a locked 30 bed facility. RN works with a team of nurses, aides, social workers, and recreational therapists. RN initiates the admission process and admit psychiatric patients with the psychiatrist. RN is responsible for all education, care plans, medications, evaluations, and supervision of all staff on duty for the shift. Documents and discharge planning were included. Reason for leaving is due to facility closing per the state of Michigan regulations after 30 years of patient care.

1992-1993

Northwoods Home Nursing (500 W. McMillan Ave., Newberry Mi, 49868)

• Assisted in opening a Home Health Care business in Newberry, Mi, with two other RN colleagues. Duties included assisting patients within their home with illness, hospice, infections, and after surgery upkeep. Left position to continue State Work.

1993-1997

Marquette Branch Prison (1960 US-41 Marquette, Mi, 49855)

• RN supervisor for an 11-bed impatient hospital inside prison facility (Brooks Center Infirmary). This area was used for post- surgical care or other illnesses. There were also 4 additional psychiatric cells for mental health emergencies. Worked directly with a psychiatrist and medical doctors. Supervised all employees on staff withing the Brooks Center. Developed and updated policies and procedures. Completed audits and surveys. Supervised inmates working in janitorial positions within the center. Left position due to family relocation. 1997-1999

Department of Community Health; Mount Pleasant Center

(Pickford Rd., Mount Pleasant Mi, 48858)

• State Facility for Developmentally Disabled and Duo-Diagnostic patients. Provided nursing care coordination for two units with developmental diagnoses, each unit held 30 clients. This included extensive care planning and routine evaluations and physicals. Duties also included any basic medical needs, emergent care, and medication for each client. This state facility closed as well.

1999-2004

State of Michigan Department of Management and Budget

(DMB) (320 S. Walnut St. P.O Box 30026 Lansing Mi, 48909)

• Participated in health screening benefits provided by an RN for current state employees and retirees. Required RN to move around the state of Michigan and set up several offices. Provided equipment for the purpose of health screening appointments. Position required obtaining patient history, hearing and visual testing, education on diet and exercise, EKG testing, complete blood work up, UA testing, and breast exams. All reports and samples sent to DMB Lansing office. Average clients seen per day was 10-11. This department closed due to lack of funding.

2004-2010

Kinross Correctional Facility (KCF); State of Michigan Department of Corrections (4533 N Industrial Dr. Kincheloe, Mi, 49788)

• RN assessment and caring for the medical and psychiatric needs for inmates. RN position of midnight shift, responsible for all calls from 4 different prison facilities (KCF, Straits Correctional Facility,

Hiawatha Facility, Chippewa Correctional Facility). RN used personal vehicle to travel between facilities as needed. Duties included evaluation for emergent care or concerns as needed throughout the night. This included emergent care, administering medications, communicating with administration and ambulance personnel. Care also included filing in for daytime healthcare for clinic appointments for patients. This involved education on medication, administration of vaccines, and assisted on medical procedures with doctors. Left positions to retire from State of Michigan.

2010-Current

War Memorial Behavioral Health Center (BHC) (16523 S. Water Tower Dr. Kincheloe Mi, 49788)

• RN duties included care of psychiatric patients within a 20-bed facility. This unit accommodates patients of a side variety of diagnoses. RN care includes every aspect from accepting patients and admission to discharge. Accepting patients includes an extensive phone triage and communicating with doctors on patient background. Continued care includes assessments, supportive care, medications, and one on one monitoring. Currently still employed as a seasonal worker from May to September.

COMMUNICATION

Proficiencies in working with psychiatric populations, including treatment, assessment, and admission process. Advanced skills in communicating with doctors and teams to gather information and develop care plans. Proficient in telephone communication between doctors, staff, and other occupational relations. Strong history in management of floors and effectively supervising team members.

L EADERSHIP

Experiences in supervision of floors on a variety of units and care for diverse clientele. Opened Home Health Care Office and successfully navigated the company into a thriving business. Consultation from nurses while working in a charge nurse position.
