Wolfgang Groeger, born and raised in Vienna, Austria he joined Austrian Airlines to work at Vienna Int’l Airport in 1972.
After working in different positions he decided on a career abroad and took over the Regional Manager and Station Manager position in Tripoli, Libya for 4 years.
After this posting he was appointed Station Manager at JFK Int’l Airport where he started Austrian Airlines first long haul operations. Beside his position with Austrian Airlines he was also involved in KAAMCO (Kennedy Airport Airlines Management Council) where he acted as President until he took up a new challenge as Country Manager for the Czech Republic in 1995.
After 3 years in Prague he took over the Country Manager’s position for Romania and Moldavia where he also was acting as treasurer for SKAL.
He continued his career in 2006 in Baku, Azerbaijan until 2010, also as Country Manager.
When Lufthansa bought Austrian he retired from the airline industry starting a new career as brewer and soft drink technician.
Officially retired in 2013, he is living now in Oldsmar, FL as well as in Baden, Austria.
