Community Intervention Center

Internship 1- 150 hours completed

Assisted with clients in the only homeless day shelter around for 3 or more counties. Community Intervention Center helps the homeless, mentally ill, and those battling addiction who may not have family, friends, or monetary means of providing shelter and basic survival means for oneself. I coordinated and assisted with an art therapy group every Friday afternoon, helped when clients needed someone to talk to who knows addiction firsthand from life experience, put together informative paperwork, made informative binders for staff, and organized and put together client intake and an assessment binder, light housekeeping for COVID 19 safety, assisted when issues would arise with clients that needed emergency services, and helped with mental health assessments. Plenty more jobs I helped and did at C.I.C. I loved my internship there and learned a lot about addiction and mental health. Firsthand experience is best.
