FRONT DESK ASSISTANT AIM MAIL CENTER SAN JOSE, CA 10/97-02/98 AND 10/98-02/99
‘This was a temporary jab for the holidays that had me doing anything from packing things
for delivery via UPS,USPS and FEDEX along with mail delivery to mailboxes on site as well
‘as sales of stamps and stationery items to customers. Measuring and weighing items to be
shipped along with al forms that needed to be completed before the trucks took
‘everything away while there was usually a sizable line throughout the store was daunting
at times but got used to working in that kind of pressure situation pretty well. There was a
total of 3 of us and we worked as a team to take care of all the customers requests with
little issues that we couldn't handle. Besides those duties also was to keep the store clean
and stacked for the next day. There was little time atthe end of the day but began
‘washing the windows, vacuuming the store and taking out all trash and recycling which led
to the owner canceling his cleaning crew that came after hours and saving him that cost.
FRONT DESK ASSISTANT/MANAGER FOX WORTHY ATHLETIC CLUB; SAN JOSE,CA:04/96-10/98
‘This was my firs real job outside of mowing the lawns of my neighbors from time to time,
It was also the first time working the graveyard position. When started was in charge of
‘checking members into the computer system as they entered and helped them with any
issues or questions they might have had. also set up new potential members with an
appointment to meet with the sales staff and took them on a 5-10 minute tour of the gym,
‘explaining the different machines and amenities the gym had to offer. We were open 24
hours M-F sal was the only employee from approx 9pm until Sam which gave me the
‘opportunity to do some preventative maintenance on the equipment as well as the facility
itcelf. Shortly after began doing this was promoted to front desk manager for those
«efforts. set employees schedules making sure there was always someone at the front desk
to greet members along with setting a schedule for the classes we offered and working
‘out any conflicts between the instructors as to who gets the workout room at what time.
There was never any list of duties when started there but over about a 6 month time
implemented one which helped with our turnover rate of front desk employees. We went
from getting someane new about every month to only having to hire two people the last 9
‘months the gym was open. Unfortunately the owner had creative bookkeeping and the
‘gym closed due to going into bankruptey.
