Infosys Consulting May 2007-Nov, 2008
Senior Consultant – Enterprise Client / Server Technology
Infosys Consulting an enterprise IT support consulting company based in Beaver Dam, WI. Responsible for managing the support needs of a diverse client base. From Small business clients to our two main clients. Two Chemical Company’s. “Columbus Chemical Industries” (CCI) in Columbus, WI with several remote locations around the country and “ERCO WorldWide” in Port Edwards, WI. Along with delivering computer support and networking solutions.
Originally hired to take over the Erco Worldwide account. Infosys had been contracted to provide urgent services with the network at the Erco Port Edwards Chemical Facility. This was following some issues they had with their previous direct hired administrator. He had been let go after making a mess out of things.
Erco has a chemical facility comprising of many acres of production buildings, storage facilities, train loading and unloading infrastructure, offices, etc… with 24/7 365 days a year plant operation. They create various chemicals used in industrial processes and literally ship out chemicals by the train load. The plant manager told me that the plant uses 1 million dollars a month in electricity. We had to reestablish reliable network and server infrastructure for the entire environment. Including many thousands of yards of fiber connections and the onsite datacenter. Over a couple months we were able to stabilize the environment and start to move forward with new improvement initiatives.
I supplied the main IT design, implementation, and support services for both companies. Sharing my time between the two. Two days a week in Columbus, and Three days a week in Port Edwards for the majority of my time working at Infosys. My other role was of mentor of 3 other techs for Infosys. They were mostly responsible for day to day support of our various Small Business local clients and they assisted with big projects at the large clients.
The work was especially rewarding as our client base had many diverse technologies and equipment. The experience at Infosys allowed me to stretch my knowledge base and skill set while developing leadership in these varied environments; this taught me to be reliant on my own knowledge, ability, and to hit the ground running in new environments and situations.
This work was self starting and had very little management intervention. I was given the responsibility of keeping my clients happy and making recommendations as required. This included directing other technicians as necessary.
