PROFILE
I have worked in management for over 40 years and have experienced everything from being a shift leader in my teen years, to becoming an Area Manager for Boston University. I can bring a lot to the table, as I have always been a cooperative team member and problem solver. I look forward to working in a position that I can retire in. EXPERIENCE
Stay at home father ~ Derry, NH ~ 2011-present
In this role I was responsible for overseeing the daily household tasks and cooperation of my three boys. Duties include: meal planning and preparation, budgeting, and overall operational duties of the household.
Area Manger ~ Boston University, Boston, MA ~ 2007-2011 As an area manager my standard duties were to keep a clean and sustainable environment for the working union custodial staff. In addition, I was responsible for the daily upkeep for all the offices on campus. Another component of my job was to hold weekly meetings to fine tune any and all issues and complaints. As a manager I was assigned over 1,000,000 square feet of space over numerous addresses, as well as the management of more than 40 custodians and a handful of tradesmen. My office duties consisted of the regulation of schedule sheets for days off and vacation time. Together, my team and I ensured the best level of cleanliness of all classrooms, offices, student common areas, laboratories, and outside sidewalks on a daily basis. I kept in touch with assistant area managers and shift lead custodians on a steady basis which was the key to succeeding in meeting our daily, monthly, and yearly goals. Assistant Area Manager ~ Boston University, Boston, MA ~ 2006-2007 The main purpose of my role as the Assistant Manager of Facility Services is to ensure the Boston University Medical Campus buildings are kept in a clean, sanitary, functioning, and safe condition for the benefit and use of the University Community. This position supervises the 2nd shift custodial and maintenance union staff, monitors performance and productivity, trains the union custodial staff assigned to the area, keeps inventory, orders supplies and equipment repair as necessary to maintain the usefulness of the buildings and the safety of occupants and staff, and works with other managers to submit appropriate payroll. In addition this manager possesses working knowledge of trade related issues in order to identify necessary work, and effectively assign and monitor tasks done by the union and contracted trade staff. This management position also evaluates effectiveness of chemicals and equipment for their specific facilities, and submits appropriate reports to management staff . Custodial Services provides daily cleaning services. We serviced more than 300 buildings at Boston University. I oversaw both the Charles River Campus and Fenway Campus and had open communication with 19 area managers. Custodian ~ Boston University, Boston, MA ~ 2005-2006 As a custodian, I was responsible for making sure daily tasks were completed. This included: setting up events, restocking bathroom supplies, cleaning the dorms by day, and cleaning the classrooms and offices at night. Our efforts kept the classrooms, libraries, dorms, and offices clean, safe, and sanitary. The custodians are often the first to respond to emergency requests and are involved in the final cleanup of many situations. In the winter, I was responsible for clearing the snow from the sidewalks and common areas using hand shovels, snow blowers, and brushes. Part of my responsibilities was to install and maintain the automatic hand sanitizers in every building to mitigate the spread of seasonal flu and other viruses. I also used concentrated chemicals, diluting as needed, for daily cleaning. Other equipment I am familiar with include the automatic machine to clean, a dust mop, and a ride on floor cleaner.
