Duties included: Initiating and facilitating the sinking of a borehole including its construction to provide clean water to Maasai community. Equipping of medical equipment at a community hospital to improve access to medical care including equipping the nursery school with furniture, books, and toys. Mentoring the young.
Consultant/Researcher – Aidsfonds Bridging The Gap Health & Rights for Key Population. Nov – 2018 - March 2019
Duties included translation of questionnaires from English to Swahili, reaching out and conducting in depth interviews with sex workers, focus group discussions and relevant stakeholders (law enforcement, faith-based org, and schoolteachers) in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisii and Meru counties. Transcribing, translating, coding, and analysing of transcripts.
Consultant/Researcher - Targeted Research Advancing Sexual Health for Men who have sex with Men (TRANSFORM). Jan 2017 – April 2018
Duties included undertaking in depth interviews (IDI). Determining the individual, community and structural enablers and deterrents to engagement with existing and novel HIV preventive, diagnostic and treatment services. Develop a comprehensive sexual health and HIV service map a resource for governmental and non-governmental stakeholders responsible addressing current and future HIV service needs, and for use by MSM communities thus implementing evidence-based prevention programs.

Duties included identifying generic risks of exporting non ethical practices and report on lessons learnt. Developing a global code of conduct that is now used by the European Commission and funders worldwide to foster ethical research and equitable partnerships. Assisted in developing an online tool that gives power to vulnerable populations under non ideal conditions (fair research contract) and protects the rights of minorities.

ADDITIONAL PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE MSc Thesis research, April 2010 - October 2011. Topic: Sexual Behaviour of Maasai Domestic Security Guards in Nairobi, Kenya. This study examined the relationship between the sexual practices of Maasai domestic security men and their knowledge and beliefs of sexual risk-taking including condom use. The study was guided by grounded theory methods and used qualitative techniques to explore the perceptions of the Maasai security men in their own words.
