EXPERIENCES RELATED TO THE OPPORTUNITY

I grew up on a boat, starting as an eight year old child, when my father ran the ferry.

I have crossed the Atlantic Ocean twice in sailboats, one a 50 footer and one a 30’ Catamaran.

I surveyed oil for two and a half years on a 170’ survey ship. The surveying work was accomplished in the Gulf of Mexico and as far away as the North Atlantic.

I have delivered pleasure craft, both power and sail, up and down the East Coast, through the Panama Canal, and through the Caribbean Sea. Recent deliveries include:

• a Marlow 75 from St. Petersburg to Chattanooga TN via the Alabama and Mobile Rivers heading north to the Tennessee/Tombigbee waterway and ultimately to the Tennessee River;

• a Choy Lee 85 from Clearwater Harbor to West Palm Beach to be shipped on a deck of a freighter to Ensenada MX;

• a Prince Viking 55 from St. Petersburg to Nassau in the Bahamas in the Gulf of Mexico;

• a Prestige 65 from Port Jefferson Harbor on Long Island, NY to Clearwater St. Petersburg and then to the Bahamas;

I received my 1st Coastguard Captain’s License in 1984. I recently sat for and was updated to my 100 ton Master’s License.
