Research
I investigated the metabolic and cardiovascular effects of two phytocannabinoids, Cannabidiol (CBD) and Tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV), in type 2 diabetes and the effects of CBD on cardiovascular response to stress in healthy volunteers, in phase 2 clinical trials. My research showed that THCV improved glycaemic handling after an oral glucose load while CBD reduced cardiovascular response to stress. In addition, part of research involved looking at the effects of these two compounds on adipocytes and vascular endothelial cells and I was awarded PhD for my work by University of Nottingham in December 2016. 3
