Acts as a liaison between the Verizon/ITC, contractor, city and all other workgroups that are involved in the construction project. Oversees, inspects and monitors field work which includes excavations, boring, placement of conduit, hand-holes, fiber cable installation, grounding and restoration of all work areas. Completes all documentation for associated inspection work, including redlining of As-Builds. Communicates scheduling and scope changes with City and contractors as required. Participate in all Contractor safety and pre-con meetings to ensure compliance with safety, standards and work procedures. Performs oversight and inspection of construction projects, Integrity Management digs, potholing and other work as required. Performs direct oversight of Contractor to ensure compliance with job drawings, specifications and environmental protection measures, erection of temporary facilities such as fences and other public safety items, site work, excavation, backfill, site restoration, lowering of pipe, unloading and handling of piping materials, pre-excavation, Ground Penetrating Radar and electromagnetic utility location, compaction testing, and line markers. Maintains all required Quality Assurance/Quality Control and as-built documentation on site. Turns over timely, legible, complete, and error-free to the as-built mapping team at the end of the project. Maintains public and employee safety on site always by promoting a positive safety culture, exhibiting an absolute commitment to safety for self and others, and by ensuring all applicable safety rules, regulations and standards, including PPE, as followed.

My primary duties as stand by inspector is the protection of PG&E pipeline and other utilities in Northern California and surrounding areas. Stand by inspection is to maintain PG&E regulations while PG&E employees and contractors were installing or repairing gas line. Had to use tape measure for depths and sizes of bell holes, use of measuring wheel to obtain distance of pipe being installed or repaired. Confirm with job site prints and maps. Was also on site for 3rd party contractors that were working near or actual exposed transmission line, anytime excavation was within 5’ for digging and 10’ for boring. I had to make sure contractor would hand dig or use vac truck within 2’ of gas line. When showing up on site I would confirm PGE right of way (ROW), see what other utilities were near or in PGE ROW. Protection is following PG&E regulations and keeping all mechanical digging 2 feet away from pipeline when exposed. Before line is exposed confirm PGE ROW for property and other utilities such as SMUD, waterlines, telephone, etc. Line is potholed with a hydrovac or hand digging. Other duties include noting of the condition of the coding of the pipe and the pipe itself; pitting, gauges, corrosion, etc. Making sure contractor has all documents before job begins; such as USA, permits, pre-dig forms, etc, along with ensuring PPE is followed; hard hats, vests, glasses, etc. Before any digging, calling PG&E gas control and give them a location and line number of pipeline. When contractor is digging a hole I ensure all excavation procedure of installing shoring at 4 feet, air monitors and ladders are followed. Also ensure all other safety measures are following in regards to, tripping hazards, pinch points, overhead lines, etc. Use a pipe horn/locator to confirm utilities that have been marked. Train per PG&E first aid and CPR certified. Ability to read prints and plans daily and understanding symbols, colors and language using Microsoft word and excel for inspection reports and time cards. Confirm if traffic control is needed and is set up according to permit plans. At end of day, must make sure job site is safely secured for overnight by covering holes with steel plates or putting up chain link fence around site.

Data Center Tech, CWF

January 2011-April 2012

Contract work for AT&T, Qwest, Tycho, Installing fiber, Cat 5-6, RJ-45, Panduit panels and punch down from applicable cable, work in raise floor and overhead locations. All cables are sewed, verified using a JDSU visual fault locator, fiber is testing using a Noyes AFL optical test kit (CKSM-2 SC), terminated and tagged per TP and Data Center procedures. Install bays, cabinets, panels using anchor kits. Very experienced in cabling to power bay, ground buses, fuses, H-tapping, insulated tools, blankets for safety, crimpling lugs, verifying and terminating all power connections.

Utility locator Golden State Utility

Locate ad mark utilities for major fiber companies, Time Warner, Level 3, Sure West and private locates, which include gas, water, sewer, electrical, telephone and other utilities, flags and paint. Responsibilities include, being on-site while companies such as PG&E, SMUD, dig near marked utilities, liaison between company and job site supervisors, daily review and revision of engineering prints, which include paper and computer. Ensure holes are shored up, air monitors and ladders are appropriate before contractor goes into hole. USA certified, railroad certified, understanding Personal Protection Equipment. Stand by required when contract are excavating near Time Warner or level 3.

Straw/Locator BTI Trenchless

May 2005-August 2008

Directed a directional boring machine with a location device up to 200 feet vertically, 500 feet horizontally, under freeways and businesses. Duties include: Potholing to locate depth of utilities, calling in underground services, communicating with driller, and set up road traffic closures and detours, installation of gas, water and fiber conduits, tracer wire. When digging trench or bell hole shoring installed at 5 feet per Cal OSHA, air monitor, ladders and PPE all used per regulations. Daily task includes but not limited to jack hammering, and use of shovel. Driving semi-truck and trailer, carrying heavy equipment and water tanks, fork lift and backhoes. Ability to read and understand utility prints.
