IFF chemicals

December 2019 to Present

As a process operator my main duties are:

At IFF I work to create the best and most complex chemicals offered worldwide.

Working in a Highley dangerous and explosive atmosphere safety is always my number one priority.

Working with complex fractional distillation processes which create high grade product at 99% purity.

Working with and monitoring exothermic reactions keeping vessels within safe ranges of temperature and pressure.

Loading tanks and vessels safely set out by risk assessment and stop and think.

Following a PWI(process work instruction) set out by the technical and safety department to create chemicals in the safest and most efficient way.

To actively monitor the plant for any hazards or damage to equipment.

Perform safe isolations on vessels and equipment for the maintenance team to work with.

I am a member of the site emergency response team and take part in yearly training courses.

Air hood and respiratory equipment trained.

Gas/flammable and h2s meter trained and used daily.

Test and dispose of hazardous waste.

Taking part in regular safety meeting to discuss Improvements which can be placed on site.

A member of the site process safety team.

Over see and monitor safety permits that they are being followed.

As a Process Operator my duties where.

Correct mixture of ingredients using a SCADA system.

Monitor and control a water treatment plant.

Using a computerised system to safely open valves and operate pumps.

Make sure all temperatures and chemical levels are within safe ranges.

Regular safety checks of the plant for leaks and safety hazards.

Whilst performing any tasks I always make sure I follow any written procedures as laid down by

company policy and have a questioning attitude. If I encounter any issues I will always raise these before

continuing and consult with my team leader.

I am aware of the permit to work system and the need for associated documentation including method

statements and risk assessments. I always abide by health and safety policy on sites and fully understand

the Importance of a safety culture on site.

I am a trained fire warden and attend regular safety meetings on site.

Based on SABICS LDPE Plant:

Operating machines to pack polyethylene.

Taking readings of all plant Equipment at the beginning of every shift to check for any anomalies and

adjusting when needed.

Testing and taking samples of different grades of product to check for impurities before distributing

to the customer.

I also carry out a number of different responsibilities within the role which includes, conducting risk

assessments, managing the administration and paperwork (including quality and safety checks).

I also worked within the maintenance team carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM).

I'm issued with work orders through the computerised maintenance management sys- tem (CMMS)
