Community Advocate

Determine operational objectives by studying mental health, gathering information, collecting data, and evaluating outcomes within the criminal system.

Advocate, listen, empower the diverse voices, experiences, and perspectives of individuals who are currently or were formerly incarcerated and those with mental illness and disabilities.

Advocate for policies changes to mitigate jail harm and advance public health.

Build community power to advance grassroots campaigns around jail conditions, custody deaths, county policies, and local county/city budgets.

Establish and maintain relationships with elected officials, stakeholders, and community members.

Provide individual-level case intervention, crisis response, and participatory defense as needed.

Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track cases and the involvement of the criminal system.
