Mechanic duties -

• Change Oil

Drain and change oil in vehicles, following all safe-handling procedures to correctly dispose of used motor oil.

Top off fluids in vehicle engines, including transmission and windshield wiper fluid.

Parts duties -

• Oversee the flow of parts

Keep track of all what’s coming in, what’s on the shelves, and which techs need what parts. Keep track of which parts need to go back to vendors and return them when necessary.

• Manage inventory

Keeping everything stocked and in order on a daily basis. Making sure everything is put back in its specific location after 10 other mechanics have shuffled things around.

• Price parts for estimates

Finding parts through a list of vendors then transferring part numbers and calculating list/cost prices to build an estimate.

• Receiving Parts

Making sure parts are received properly in the system and creating appointments for customers upon part arrival.

Service desk duties -

• Initiates automotive services and repairs by ascertaining performance problems and services requested.

• Verifies warranty and service contract coverage, developing estimates, writing repair orders, and maintaining customer rapport and records.

• Ascertains automotive problems and services by listening to customer’s description of symptoms, clarifying description of problems, conducting inspections, taking test drives, checking vehicle maintenance records, and examining service schedules.

• Develops estimates by costing materials, supplies, and labor.

• Calculates customer’s payment, including deductibles.

• Prepares repair orders (RO) by describing symptoms, problems, and causes discovered, as well as repairs and services required.

• Obtains approval signatures and enters RO into service database system.

• Maintains customer rapport by explaining estimates and expected return of vehicle, obtaining customer’s approval of estimates, obtaining and providing contact telephone numbers, answering questions and concerns, and arranging towing and temporary transportation.

Due to COVID this business shut down.

While working at Bone Island Welding, a privately owned weld shop, I preformed a variety of tasks on the CNC Plasma Cutting machine. From creating art to sell, to creating gussets, beams, and baseplates, I measured out blueprints to then input data into the coded CNC software. Then created the the CNC Machine codes to run the machine properly.

Other than using the CNC Plasma Machine I was required to keep account of all the funds going in and out of the entire business via QuickBooks. As well as answering questions, creating, and scheduling customers for quotes/estimates and then making dates for the physical jobs.
