Detect and correct malfunctions in marine machinery by using measuring devices and test equipment such as alignment scopes or strobe tachometers. 13. Examine or locate the cause of operational failures in marine propulsion shafts, rudders, propellers, or steering assemblies to determine the extent of repairs required. ABILITY TO USE AND MAINTAIN TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT 14. Maintain tools and equipment in work areas for compliance with shop housekeeping rules. 15. Set up and operate machine tools such as drill presses or grinders to accomplish repairs. 16. Use various precision measuring instruments and test equipment such as micrometers, intra-mics, calipers, dial indicators, tachometers, torque wrenches, or thread gages. determining sequence, priorities, and deadlines of scheduled assignments; determining material, equipment and manpower needs; developing and implementing work and safety procedures; AND executing administrative functions such as scheduling leave, deciding conduct related matters, and supporting Equal Employment Opportunity principles and practices.
