Going from a soft material (maize, soya, grains) doing 1 load a day to a tough material like coal doing between 3 and 6 loads a day, through tough unknown routes and mines. Our whole fleet (drivers, trucks and trailers) felt the brunt of this transition. My responsibilities were to attend to all breakdowns, services and repairs. Getting drivers their inductions and medicals booked and attended. Kept communication with all employees, building a strong bond with trust, respect and determination, keeping all spirits high and positive/calming those who felt the need to give up or be a bit too expressive about their feelings. Minimizing breakdowns, keeping expenses low and manageable was also my responsibility and logical next step after getting the mechanical aspect settled and flowing the way it should. The 1st month the invoice was only R 630,000,00. By the fourth month, we were invoicing R 1,172,063,00. Incl vat before diesel. Please note that working at this company is where my mechanical knowledge, experience and true passion for transport started.Im glorified not qualified Just yet. I only have physical knowledge of Scania, different trailers and basic knowledge of Freightliner. But as I am a quick leaner enjoy my job and working with my hands I was immediately flying solo for this company running all 6 Scanias(410,460,500).Im trustworthy, goal oriented, extremely determined, disciplined, easy to work with and always keep the company I work for best interests at heart.
