PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

San Diego Convention Center – San Diego, California December 2022 – Present

Senior Electrical Engineer providing the San Diego Convention Center Senior Electrical Engineer support for review and comment of submitted SDCC projects for technical and cost reviews as well as reviewing the 1,764,000 square foot original construction from 1986 and the expansion project designed in 1996. I worked on the original design while at Syska & Hennessy in 1986 and the expansion while working for TMAD in 1996. I provided a full range of critical engineering and Construction Quality Assurance, Management and Technical Oversight. These responsibilities currently include technical inspections of Electrical and Technology including Data Center and Communications systems) design and construction work, monitoring the contractor’s quality control program and reviewing project documents (drawings, calculations, and specifications) to ensure compliance. My project management includes scheduling, problem analysis, resolution, and control. I support the on-site facilities technical maintenance groups with all technical questions or challenges.

Electrical Engineer - Lead Engineer – Project Manager

Marine Corps Air Ground Command Center, Twentynine Palms, CA

Provided/providing engineering design and construction support of the Basewide 12.47kV and 34.5kV pole and ductbank distribution consisting of new 34.5kV-12.47kV Substations and over sixteen miles of pole and line work.

Base infrastructure including pumping and booster stations and associated SCADA-Mate RF controls were also added basewide at user identified locations.

Successful development of over 70 new pole framing details reflecting GO95, NESC, REA guidelines and UFC requirements. Sag and Tension calculations utilizing Southwire SAG10 software were provided to support the pole, line and associated hardware design.

The project also consisted of developing design guidelines and associated construction details for the Avian Raptor Protection system added as a requirement following award of the contract. These Avian Raptor Protection design guidelines and details have been adopted for construction at DOD Computer and Communications sites in Southern California.

Technology Systems.

Provided complete engineering studies and construction documents for new Embassy Campuses as well as recommending and including Additions and Upgrades at existing consular facilities.

All work met or exceeded RIP OBO criteria.

Also provided development of new OBO divisions 26, 27, 28, and 33 engineering specifications using 2012 Masterspec and OBO standards. These have been adopted by OBO.

Camp Pendleton Marine Corps MCAS, Building #23194 – Oceanside, CA

Provided Electrical Engineering design (lighting, power, and signal) for a new 32,000 Sq.Ft.”UH-1Y and AH-1Z” BELL Helicopter Simulator Training Facility building and associated infrastructure (Mechanical, RF, 12kV and Emergency Generator).

The project was also provided with calculations for the Arc-Flash Hazard and Analysis based on NFPA 70-2005 NEC 110-16.

Contractor cost estimate for Electrical Materials and Labor reviewed for accuracy and results of review provided to client.

Full Commissioning was provided to client. This project was recognized by Camp Pendleton as an outstanding engineered and constructed project.

Senior Electrical Engineer – Project Manager

SHARP Memorial Hospital – Hospital Modernization Project,

San Diego, CA

Responsible for 420,000 Sq.Ft. Electrical Engineering design services and construction administration portion of this Project.

Project consisted of a seven-level intensive care hospital including Data Centers, medical imaging suites, operating rooms, emergency and trauma suites, ICU, and in-patient bedrooms for various level of care.

Project included the re-routing of a portion of the existing underground 12kV campus loop, the addition of a 480Y/277V emergency feeder supporting this project, and existing Central Plant upgrade. Calculation of the Arc-Flash Hazard and Analysis was provided based on IEEE 1584TM-2004a for the 15kv-480V, 3 phase systems.

Provided weekly Field Inspection of site for assessment of work completion and construction challenges. Attend construction meetings with architect and subcontractors, review design drawings, direct subcontractors and answer their questions, review contractors’ submittals, direct the Electrical commissioning team and approve Electrical commissioning test results.

Electrical engineering research and design services for monitoring (including RFID) and control for toll collection, border security and access. Hardware (including PCB level design, software, and middleware had been utilized for design of engineering solutions associated with these projects..

Successful upgrades for both power conditioning, backup, and remote monitoring resulting from my design for the addition of integrated rack mountable UPS systems for the Puerto Rico projects. The addition board mounted cards allowed/s for the monitoring and control for the complete project both locally and from the San Diego office.

I provide complete engineering design and management for the Peace Bridge project included the new design for the toll stations, active signage/graphics, integration between existing and new Smart Pass technology, roadway sensing and light bars, booth design inclusive of all components.

I oversaw the manufacturing of the system controllers including lab and field testing of all hardware, hardwired and RF I/O systems. Provided new lighting design for higher efficiency illumination systems (LED) serving both field safety conditions and violation & processing components.

The development of the equipment I designed and, for which I oversaw the manufacturing and testing of, were submitted for listing to UL and FCC to obtained required licensing for usage in Canada by the border security agencies.
