Spearheaded accountability for operations planning and business process re-engineering of Florida Crystals Corporation (FCC), Okeelanta Sugar Complex, New Hope Power Company (one of the largest biomass cogeneration facilities in the world). This includes business and technical operations, maintenance, financials, human resources, and compliance with all County, State, and Federal guidelines, safety and environmental regulations. This is one business unit in the FCC global presence in 16 countries and 4 continents.
P&L responsibility for business unit (28M USD annually) through direct training, leadership and supervision of 6 department heads, 4 engineers, 5 exempt level supervisors, and 55 non-exempt team members spread across the business unit. Achieved record harvest, facility availability and revenue during my tenure 2014/2015 crop year.
Using the Deming Quality methodology for continuous improvement, coached and mentored Self Directed Work Teams to develop standards and implementation protocols, including internal audits for compliance with ISO 9000, 14000, & 19011 for quality program / system and environmental criteria compliance. These audits also have a place in software performance and compliance. An example being EBS criteria and FLSA applicability. Business development included operating contract renewal for existing facility valued at 650M USD over 20 years and the new facility contract award Forged a new direction and strategy for policy development and implementation for BWC’s sole commercial renewable energy project in the US. Accountabilities included both administration of the existing facility, consisting of two units, and the design / build phases of three new units being added to the existing facility footprint. Span of control met through eight senior managers and in excess of 200 technical / skilled crafts staff, financial staff, EHS (HSE) staff, human resources staff, and engineering staff - both company and contract engineers.
for design/build/operate valued at 960M USD over 20 years. New facility included global vendor involvement partnering with such companies as the Danish firm Volund whose grate design was a first of a kind installation in the US marketplace. This kind of design/installation required many days collaborating with Volund engineers in Denmark and then in the United States to effect a successful integration into the overall facility design/build.
Galvanized turnaround situation in Operations and Maintenance activities for 3 facilities, fuel manufacturing/processing including scrap metals recovery business, power generation, and water purification and treatment.

To implement the Consolidated Everglades Restoration Program (CERP) approved by President Clinton and the US Congress/Senate, galvanized leadership, management, and engineering support for technical programs in the field for areas of construction (new automated pump stations with advanced PLC and SCADA technologies), design, operations and maintenance of bio-remediation water treatment wetland systems, vegetation management, right-of-way real estate, pump stations operations and maintenance (in excess of 10MGD capacity), fleet maintenance (in excess of 500 vehicles, marine and heavy equipment), and emergency management for the US Army Corps of Engineers flood control system in the south Florida area.
