Profile

Experienced Maintenance Manager for disposal service truck fleets, covering both municipal and county- wide service areas. Have extensive experience in the repair and maintenance of a broad range of equipment, machinery, and fleet vehicles. Skill set includes exceptional diagnostic skills for a wide range of engines. To ensure facilities are maintained at full compliance levels, I keep informed as to current environmental regulations. I have a proven track record reorganizing poorly performing sites and bringing them back to productivity standards. My consistent record for delivering services on time and on, or under, budget is reflected by my work experience history. I lead by example as reflected by my history of low staff turnover and a waiting list for new hires. My work performance demonstrates my ability to analyze and resolve problems with minimal supervision. Work Experience

Division Team Leader over Maintenance for Central Florida (June 2018 – February 2023) Waste Connections – Orlando, FL

Primary Responsibilities:

Promotion to Division Team Leader expanded service coverage from Central Florida (Orlando) to Miami while still retaining the primary responsibilities of my former position as District Maintenance Manager.

Expanded oversight role included landfills and transfer stations for equipment maintenance, yellow iron, and facility maintenance. Management responsibilities expanded to include container repair shops as well as maintenance of equipment for recycle facilities.

Administrative duties included monthly call with all shops to discuss any needs, facility, and fleet needs/health issues. Traveled to sites for facility, fleet, and equipment evaluations. Kept Division Vice President updated on a regular basis.

Coordinated with region/corporate offices on acquisitions by evaluating and gathering information on all equipment and maintenance shop facilities. Worked with vendors on truck modifications to stay in compliance with DOT and CDL requirements.

Used Truck Center software to build trucks to specifications for the location it was needed, including chassis, body type, and accessories to stay within state and local compliance requirements. District Maintenance Manager for Central Florida (December 2015 – June 2018) Progressive Waste (merged with Waste Connections 2016) – Orlando, FL Primary Responsibilities:

Responsible for more than 120 pieces of equipment (front loaders, rear loaders, recycle trucks, roll offs, can delivery trucks, AFL, ASL, tractors, trailers, and forklifts). This included fleet maintenance oversight, facility maintenance, parts ordering, monthly forecast projections, yearly budgeting, along with inventory and stock level control. Used research skills to locate parts for other locations when they couldn't to maintain efficiencies across all facilities.

Negotiated with vendors to ensure best pricing at all locations under my direct management (Central Florida).

Ensured that the environmental compliance regulations were followed for the handling and disposal of all industrial liquids.

Maintenance Manager (December 2013 – 2015)

Advanced Disposal Services (ADS) – Jacksonville, FL Key Functions:

Tracked costs (shop supplies, facility maintenance, contracted services, received parts, received outside repairs, etc.,) to ensure site stayed within monthly budget. Managed the only site in the Jacksonville District that has showed a profit for 2013-2015. This site is also the only one that hit budget 10 out of 12 months including the first half of 2015.

Managed training of employees to ensure that all shop employees attended safety training on a monthly basis. Other responsibilities included forklift training and Lock Out/Tag Out training to ensure that all trucks in for maintenance or repair were immobilized per safety standards before any work began.

Coordinated the assessment and allotment of fleet vehicles to ensure that all daily routes were covered.

Verified compliance with all state environmental regulations for the proper handling of all industrial liquids, including both fuel tank and pipeline inspections for our on-site fuel station as well as preventing storm water (i.e., ground water and runoff) contamination. Krystal Klean was used for the proper disposal of used oil and filters.

Supervised container maintenance. Containers ranged in size from 2 cubic yards to 50 cubic yards. Site Management:

Managed a fleet of 100+ commercial and residential refuse trucks including Front Loaders, Roll-Offs, Rear Loaders, Recyclers, and Automatic Side Loaders (ASL). Refuse truck bodies included Heil, McNeilus, G-S Products, Labrie, Galbreath, and EZ Pack.

Generated “monthly close” financial reports to track general ledger balances and inventory adjustments.

Responsible for all staff hires and dismissals.

Monitored warranty coverage for all fleet vehicles. This ensured that any outside repairs under warranty were billed to the service provider. We also realized significant savings due to my certification status so that warranty repairs on Mack and Cummins engines and parts could be done within our own shop. Realized additional savings since on-site repairs did not generate towing charges or excessive staff downtime due to travel/wait time when staff had to deliver a vehicle to a dealership for repairs. Extensive knowledge of warranties and warranty service providers can sometimes provide savings in unexpected ways. For example, one of our fleet vehicles was repaired under warranty only to have the repaired air compressor subsequently fall off the truck. Research revealed that the wrong bolts were used. Based on our knowledge of the hardware and the repairs made, we were able to persuade the service provider to make all necessary replacements and repairs – at their expense.

Monitored staff performance by creating productivity reports to ensure that payroll hours match time logged against work tickets. Productivity reports were generated using Dossier software. My original service area as Maintenance Manager included both St. Johns County and Clay County, including Keystone Heights. However, based on my outstanding job performance, my coverage area was restructured in September of 2015 to include Clay County, Ocala, and Lake City. Certifications & Education

Each of these specialized truck software programs is loaded on a laptop that is then connected directly to each individual truck to provide diagnostics and troubleshooting feedback. Truck engines are monitored for road speed or shut down systems. Diagnostic codes provide feedback to identify what the problem is and where the problem is located in the system. Road speed governors can set the truck’s engine so it cannot exceed a specified speed to manage fuel economy. Shut down systems will set the engine to shut down if it exceeds a specified temperature, oil pressure level, or low coolant measure in order to prevent damage to the engine.
