EZ-CARE was originally developed and marketed by Advanced Research Systems in the early 1990’s. It was intended to be an application to give medical managers a user friendly method to record, track and report on all the data related to case work. Further, the application was designed to work as a standalone application or as a component of a larger system. In late 1999, Advanced Research Systems sold EZ-CARE to MZIHC.

MZIHC developed an interface between its EZ-CAP Benefit Administration application and EZ-CARE. The primary reason for this was to provide expanded medical management capabilities to MZIHC users who provided Case Management services to members.
