KEY ACHIEVEMENTS
National State Affairs Lead for Fortune 300 Company. Outreach to 24 states to arrange for 19,000 employees to receive the COVID vaccination. This involved very intricate knowledge of and the ability to work as a goodwill ambassador at the national, federal, and state levels of government.
Energy Partnership. Developed strategic partnership with the Department of Energy to roll out a campaign educating the plastics industry in best practices for energy reduction compliance with the Energy Star program. The result was a 12% industry savings per annum and adoption of the program by DOE to serve as a role model for other industries.
State Advocacy Grassroots Lobbying. Developed and deployed a full scale grassroots state advocacy campaign to adopt legislation to implement the EPA Clean Power Plan. Led industry effort in K.Y. with relationship building, leveraging local and national support and enlisting allies to help build support. The legislation, ultimately,
received overwhelming passage. The model was considered the “gold standard” for future state efforts.
Raise Industry Visibility and Profile. Implemented creative educational campaign which pioneered boating safety program at Lake Meade in conjunction with NPS, the boating industry, and three states (C.A. NV and AZ). Provided initiative and leadership and served as a point of contact with the National Park Service (NPS) in response to the NPS ban on personal watercraft (PWC) in national parks. The result was a stoppage of PWC bans.
Industry Spokesperson. Served as the national spokesperson for the recreational boating industry during National Safe Boating Week, leading up to Memorial Day. We focused on boating safety and featured in numerous media interviews, including radio and T.V. spots. Messaging received 21M media hits.
Industry Best Practices. Created partnership with OSHA to address proposed plastics industry workplace standards which saved the industry violators $25K/day—worked in collaboration with OSHA and industry to provide insight, vision, and leadership to develop best practices implemented by the industry, thus alleviating non-compliance fines.

AMERICAN COALITION FOR CLEAN COAL ELECTRICITY (ACCCE) 11/2011- 09/2015

Served as the lead advocate for strategy development and as “face forward” in a 12-state Region for ACCCE, a $17M trade association advocating public policies to advance environmental improvement, economic prosperity, and a national energy policy that would not unfairly target fossil fuels. As ACCCE liaison to multiple regional organizations (SEE BELOW), we partnered to reduce various emissions by advancing technically sound science and fair and equitable policies. NOTE: RGGI (Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative), MOG (Midwest Ozone Group); and I represented the industry before various national groups such as NARUC (National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners), ECOS (Environmental Council of the States) and, different regional governors’ groups, in addition to countless other organizations.

Served as Executive Director for Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) Association, a 50+ member association to secure consistent levels of Congressional funding for the ICW; and, in charge of administering the association office. Consultant for Jotun International, an international company, sought to expand its U.S. market in the marine industry.
PERSONAL WATERCRAFT INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION (PWIA) 12/2004 – 10/2010

Chief spokesperson, performance management, education, and content expert, and chief lobbyist for PWIA, a $2M trade association representing U.S. manufacturers of personal watercraft (i.e., WaveRunners, Jet Skis). Developed and implemented strategic direction and financial reports; hired and supervised staff, independent contractors, consultants, and lobbyists; advocated at the federal and state levels while reporting directly to the Board of Directors. Public Awareness Campaign with National Park Service resulted in the stoppage of PWC bans in national parks.

Lead public affairs advocate and subject matter expert for all areas of public policy for this North American trade association representing the $342B plastics industry: including the Federal Government, Lobbying, governance management, managing high impact cross-functional internal teams to achieve an integrated advocacy program;
and promoted and enhanced industry awareness of plastics’ contributions to society. Managed a $1.2M budget and ten professional internal staff and outside consultants. State Regulatory Affairs engagement with C.A. Energy Commission to mitigate the financial impact of brownouts on plastic processors. Partnered with external lobbyists and engaged membership to craft trade-off and influence solution resulting in 13% cost reduction to processors by using power in off-peak hours. Alliance partnership with DOE, education campaign in G.A., formal collaboration with OSHA remedying proposed workplace standards, fining violators $25K/day. Developed best practices implemented by industry released companies from onerous non-compliance fines.
