I am a registered General / Ophthalmic nurse with vast experience in providing quality care to a variety of patients. My role involves providing nursing services that is assuming responsibility for the care and wellbeing of assigned patients, performing assigned task, and educating the patient and care giver to promote self-care within the patient s functional limitations. I participated as an active member of the care team and collaborate with other members to assure high quality of care. I have skills in basic and advanced life support, good interpersonal skills and pay attention to detail. I can multitask and promote teamwork within nursing staff. I am an expert in coordinating the delivery of quality clinical nursing care and managing shift operations. Receive patients referred for admission from the outpatient department
Ensuring intravenous fluids are running in at stipulated times and rates
Insertion of nasogastric tubes for feeds
Catheterisation of patients
Performing saline baths and wound dressings
Referring those who need further care to the next level care
Ensuring that incidents, accidents, and complaints are documented and acted upon immediately to the team leader
Taking care of critically ill patients for example, unconscious patients
Ordering ward stock, drugs as well as sundries required within the ward for smooth running of the department
Providing pre and post operative care
Carrying out the last offices and counselling of the bereaved
Patient Advocate Role: Spend a lot of time with the patient and suggest any medication change, if necessary, escalate the patient s problems to the appropriate cadres and advocate for other services such as physiotherapy.
Counsellor Role: Counsel on pain management by employing conservative techniques such as diversional therapy, give pre and post operative instructions, provide support and advice for the patient
