To Whom It May Concern:

A key moment in my life was when I achieved my doctorate in nursing, another was when I developed my first primary care treatment plan for a patient in need, that was more than a decade ago! Devoted to continuing to build memorable ‘moments,' I am now exploring new career opportunities to continue to positively impact the lives of patients through the delivery of holistic primary and preventative care services.

Driven by a philosophy that an exceptional NP is a therapeutic steward, I will ensure that each one of your veterans receives individualized, evidenced-based medical care, while improving outcomes. My background as a registered nurse in an Emergency Department Level 1 Trauma hospital, performing Periodic Health Assessments (PHA) on service members for deployment, and experience as a nurse educator differentiates me as an NP; this background, coupled with my NP experience at Advantage Health Centers and Wayne Health Psychiatry, serves instrumentally to support the delivery of quality patient care.

Among my experience and capabilities, you will find the following:

}Diagnosed and treated patients with multiple acute and chronic disease processes in a fast-paced, high-volume walk-in primary care federally qualified health center (FQHC). Treated patients with various complications, including hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, hypothyroidism, asthma, COPD, cardiovascular disease, and other acute/episodic conditions.

}Regarded as a consummate professional in the identification of complex medical conditions, prescribing pharmacology agents, managing medications, provided recommendations for routine immunizations, ordered and interpret diagnostic labs, radiologic studies, performing detailed physical examinations, and implementing appropriate treatments.

}Demonstrated a high-level of independence and take-charge attitude, acting as clinic leader in absence of physician.

}Excelled at connecting emotionally with patients and families, alleviating concerns through simple clarification of complex medical information.

In closing, I am continuously learning and growing in my vocation. I am guided by a personal character centered in patience, integrity, and loyalty. Over the years, I’ve learned to calm the desire to help everyone with prioritizing the delivery of care for maximum efficacy. Most of all, I value the role I play in my patient’s lives. I keep a portfolio with letters from my patients and their families---one that I am most connected to is a handwritten note by a patient’s husband after her death. It will forever remind me that my job is meaningful and invaluable.

Thank you for your time. I look forward to hearing from you and exploring ways I can serve our veterans.

Sincerely,

Katrina Richardson
