During my clinical rotations I became familiar with different EMR systems such as DocuTap(currently using at AFC UC), EClinical, Epic, Sunrise and Oxford systems that are used by different outpatient clinics and hospitals. My work at AFC urgent care requires me to work at fast-paced environment with autonomy and independently as well as with a team collaboration. I get to treat patients from all age groups, ethnicity, and backgrounds.
My work requires me to take history taking, performing a thorough physical exam, assessment and plan and thorough documentation of each chart. Mostly I need to order some additional labs and imaging studies and in-house EKG or X-ray and its interpretation . I also go over the lab results and f/u with patients about their abnormal results.
Additionally, I often have cases that require simple procedures. I am skilled to do different basic types of sutures such as simple interrupted, horizontal, uninterrupted sutures, suture removal, staples, staple removal, dry or wet dressings, Dermabond use for superficial wound closure, wart removal, care for 1st degree or superficial partial 2nd degree burns on small skin areas, splints, casts, braces, I&D, packing, packing removal, cautery, needle aspiration, intramuscular or subcutaneous injection administration, vaccines and allergy testing.
During my work experience I come across cases that could be life threatening like acute asthma exacerbation or anaphylactic reaction that I manage urgently. Also, identifying cases that need emergent hospital care and sending those cases to the hospital promptly. As a provider I take pride into helping those who are in pain, seeking for care, needing for empathy and put their trust of well-being into their provider’s hand who also like to communicate and educate their patients.
I hope my brief introduction will gain your attention into providing me an opportunity to meet you in person and discuss in detail how I can be a productive part of your caring team.
