Consultant – 8/19 to Present (either as independent for self or thru designated Company)
oProject work included APQP development for automotive suppliers, process oil expansion for designated customer. Activities included project, logistics, customer interface and engineering support for various end customers.
Director Supplier Engineering (Karma Automotive, 3/19 to 7/19)
oResponsible for all NA supplier engineering into Karma Automotive. Total supply base included 200+ suppliers for Powertrain, Engine, Electrical, Safety, Chassis, BIW, interior and exterior components. Successfully completed model 1.0 build out and 2.0 new vehicle launch at the Karma Innovation & Customization Center in Moreno Valley, Ca. Began to measure supplier performance in IPB (incidents/billion) vs PPM.
Sr. Manager NA Supplier Development (Cooper Standard, 2/17 to 2/19)
oResponsible for all suppliers shipping into the 41 Cooper Plants in NA. Duties included quality, delivery, PPAP, RCA, production resolution & APQP deliverables. Total supply base included 700 suppliers supplying to 41 Cooper facilities in NA. Reduced PPM from a 200 average to less than 1 within 18 months. Began measuring IPB’s. Implemented CAR and supplier performance system for all suppliers. Taught KT training to problematic suppliers while utilizing a Six Sigma DMAIC approach to improve them.
Sr. Quality Advisor/APQP Director (MacLean-Fogg, 3/14 – 1/17), consulted prior from 5/13 thru 2/14 as I was site quality lead for implementation and start up of their gear blank business in IL.
oDeveloped the quality brand recognition (i.e. APQP process for new product launches) within the company – including registrar consolidation, process map development, APQP usage and ISO/TS integration. Initial focus involved ITP, KTP, Ford and ZF customer base – specific to gear blank production. Also applied to their Aerospace and Power Systems division. Maintained AS certification and achieved NADCAP site approvals for both aerospace locations. Increased customer quality to single digit PPM performance with on time launches for new product introductions.
VP, Global Quality & Program Management (The Woodbridge Group, 1/04 – 4/13)
oResponsible for overall quality (including supplier quality) & program management functions across all company business units (molded foam, assembly/sequencing, slab/flame lamination, interior parts, formed plastics, NVH and diversified products). Accomplishments included elimination of 3rd party from all site labs as WB was on CS-2 when joining – completed within 8 months of arriving. Also certified the corp. lab to ISO17025 and turned it into a P&L center generating $1 million usd annually. Implemented best in class approach to improve poorer performing WB facilities.
7/01 – 1/04 Vice President, Global Quality & Reliability (TRW OSS)
oTotal reports included 107 personnel with responsibility for OSS Global Quality Systems, Product Quality & Reliability Engineering, Technical Service representatives at customer locations (NA, Canada, UK, Europe), Warranty and Product Assurance. Additional commodity responsibilities include electronic safety sensing, remote keyless entry and tire pressure monitoring. Responsible for all global aspects of OSS Quality goals, charter, customer ratings, direction/mission. Immediate global direct reports include 7 managers and 2 directors. Established & managed global department budget of 9.30 million US dollars. Also appointed executive voting member of Product Assurance Committee.
4/95 –7/01 Director, Quality & Reliability Department (TRW OSS)
oEighteen (18) direct reports; Responsible for all product quality and reliability/product assurance engineering activities related to inflatable restraint, steering wheel and seatbelt commodity assemblies (and their subcomponents) for DaimlerChrysler, European (i.e. VW, MB Transplant, BMW Transplant), Isuzu and Japanese customers (i.e. Nissan, Toyota, Mazda, MMA). Activities included all APQP and PPAP elements throughout the product development cycle into production launch and eventual service business applications. Additional responsibilities included FMVSS and pressurized vessel regulatory compliance (all countries as applicable) for various inflator design types and manufacturing sites (i.e. DOT, TUV, BAM, MITI, Transport Canada, etc).
1/89 – 4/95 Division Staff Engineer, Inflatable Restraints (TRW VSSI)
oEngineering group leader responsible for all airbag module (thermoplastic and thermoset) door/cover design, testing, materials and processing development. Material evaluation, analysis, and specification development along with meeting successful program timing and launch deliverables also required. Additional duties include budgeting, performance appraisals, advance engineering projects, supplier facility line set ups, line walks and mistake proofing, current production issue resolution, drawing sign off (i.e. ERD release), component standardization, along with college co-op thesis coordination. Awarded 10 engineering patents, along with 1 publication disclosure.
