Education

North High School 08/27/1988 - 05/22/1992

Des Moines, Iowa, USA Education Level: High School Graduate Subject:

Special Skills / Associations

I was in the JROTC (Junior Reserved Officers Training Corps) from 1987-1991 and held much pride on the riffle team where I learned great discipline and patience. During my high school years, I played basketball, volleyball, softball and participated on the track team where I became team leader. I tutored high school Math and English courses to students and helped teachers with many tasks such as; correcting assignment papers, organizing files and helping with daily assignments. I was on the Student Council, Debate Team, Show Choir and I played the clarinet in band. My senior year I took a teaching course and had the opportunity to Student teach at King Elementary School in Des Moines, Iowa. In the summer of 1992, I started working for the City of Des Moines doing construction. I was team leader of my crew and we performed many different tasks like gutting houses, building walkway bridges for parks, lawn care, landscaping, roofing, sanding, cementing and digging to add or remove concrete posts for barricades. I was assistant coach for the girls volleyball team and the boys track team where we came in 2nd at Drake Relays for boys 4X400 meter relay. I was a member of the Big Brother/Big Sister program from 6yrs old until 18yrs old where I learned a great deal about respect and how to treat others, as I would like to be treated. I was very involved with church functions, taught Sunday school, counseled at church camps and attended all revival camps. After starting as a casual at the DSM P&DC, I worked with many individuals including the deaf and was very fortunate in expanding my communication skills by learning sign language. In 2000, I became State Certified as an in-home childcare provider and I became a stay at home mom while my son started school. I provided for 6 children; including, but not limited to meal plans, storybook time, learning skills and challenging minds with games and creativity.

Describe your qualifications for this vacancy by providing a brief description of your accomplishments that demonstrate that you possess the requirements stated on the job posting. These accomplishments may have occurred in various settings.

*Change Management: LaSalle office does not meet DOIS expectations. My task was to improve our DOIS percentage. I used the following tasks: correctly measure mail, daily communication with carriers, establish office leave times & monitor street operations. As a result, LaSalle has improved from ranking last in MPOO 9 to currently #10 & still rising.

*Communication Skills: LaSalle has a variety of personalities. My task is to communicate effectively with each individual. The actions I prefer to use are; speaking clearly; open communication, attentive listening & establishing clear goals & expectations. As a result, the LaSalle carriers leave the office everyday with clear expectations of the day and carriers performance.

*Employee Focus: LaSalle carriers were missing their MSP scans on a daily basis. My task was to implement a plan to improve scores. I devised a scan card to be cased at each MSP address on the route to provide a visual impetus for the scan. As a result, our scanning percentage has improved immensely.

*Functional Admin: LaSalle is a DOIS office. My task is to complete all required daily reports. The actions I follow are to compile & print the following reports; My PO, AVUS, DOIS, MHTS, BMEU, CPC-EOR, DPS errors, SPMS, ADVANCE, Daily Vital Few, CSDRS, TACS, OT projections, eUARS, eRMS, CSAW, EXFC, SSA report, CPMS, Safety talks, Express, Accountable, open unit & 4584s.

*Operations Management: LaSalle has attendance issues. My task is to resolve each of them in a fair & equitable manner. I took the following actions; I make sure all leave is put into eRMS correctly, I print out 3972s to monitor leave usage & look for patterns, I require documentation when necessary, I provide instructions on attendance policies & document this on a 2548. If the issue escalates, I also do official job discussions, perform pre-disciplinary investigations & issue the LOW if necessary. As a result, the sick leave usage at the LaSalle office has improved.

*Personal Acumen: On Dec 29, LaSalle had 4 carriers on AL, 5 SL & 2 LD PTFs. My task was to pivot out 35 hours. I began by curtailing all standard mail, I brought in my 3 TEs and PTFs earlier to assist with casing, I utilized under time of the non-ODL to case in the office, I then used a combination of under time & OT for the balance of the routes. As a result, all mail was delivered in a timely fashion.

*Knowledge of Performance Measurement: The Postal Service has implemented My PO as a way for customers to hold mail, have packages picked up & resolve service issues. My task is to review My PO daily for activity. The actions I take are to print out Hold Mails, print carrier manifest for pick ups & resolve eCC complaints via phone calls or e-mails. I also research complaints using track & confirm & conversations with carriers & clerks. As a result, My PO is cleared daily & customers issues are resolved in timely matter.

*Work Unit Planning: The CID has implemented
