Medical-Surgical Ward

Providing high quality care to all patients with wide array of diseases. Nursing Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Admitting and orienting patients and watchers regarding hospital and ward rules and regulations.

2. Performing direct nursing procedures which included bedside nursing, hygiene, pre- and post-operative nursing care, as well as admission and discharge duties.

3. Administering oral, rectal, enteral, and parenteral medications guided by the golden rights of medication administration.

4. Assessing patient’s signs, symptoms, and conditions.

5. Implementing appropriate independent and interdependent nursing actions.

6. Documenting the assessments, actions, and reactions of the patient before, during, and after the care.

25. Taking, monitoring, and recording the vital signs such as the blood pressure, cardiac rate and pulse rate, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, including the neurologic status, level of pain, etc.

26. Monitoring and recording intake and output every shift.

27. Preparing and accompanying patients to radiologic departments such as the ultrasound, x-ray, 2D-echo, and CT-scan unit for diagnostic examinations.

28. Reporting promptly to Senior Nurse and Maintenance Department for any defective machines/ equipment used in the area.

30. Assisting patient in moving, maintaining proper alignment of patient’s body, and utilizing good body mechanics.
