GS-2005-07

40 hours per week + overtime up to the allotted 12 hour days even in different areas if needed

Duties: Performed inventory duties to ensure inventory accuracy, which is performed to research potential inventory adjustments and resolve overages/shortages of material that is stored in local warehouses and owned by the Air Force and Navy worldwide. For example, this included causative and denial research which is initiated by the item manager for discrepancies, when an established threshold dollar value is denied in the inventory system, discrepancies with a controlled inventory item, and when there is suspected fraud, waste, and or abuse. Twenty percent of the workload was in an office setting and the other eighty percent took place in the warehouses as well as outside storage facilities. I would pull suspended material out of location and stage it in the warehouse for Air Force Equipment Specialists to come and verify. Once the Equipment Specialists has verified the identity and condition of material in question, I would change the material to the condition or stock number they stated. Then I rewarehouse the material back to the proper warehouse and or warehouse location as soon as the material was changed and moved and email was sent to the equipment specialist and the Item manager letting them know what actions were taken and where the material was placed for future reference. If the item was unpacked and needed to be for storage or shipment I was trained how to properly preserve, pack and label the material to proper specifications. Another duty was if the material was received from the vendor wrong I contacted the proper vendor and let them know of the situation and followed the instructions that were given as long as my supervisor and Commander stated it was proper procedure to do so. Some of the things learned during the job was how to properly tie down, block, and secure cargo such as passenger cars, trucks, jeeps, small combat and engineering or construction vehicles, and similar, regularly transported items, using cables, chains, wires, ropes, chocks, cleats, pneumatic dun age, axle braces, turnbuckles, and clamps.
