Provides technical, administrative, clerical, and office automation support to the Program Director and Associate Program Director of the SAUSHEC Surgical Critical Care/Acute Care Surgery Fellowship and the General Surgery Residency Program. Functions as the program coordinator/educational administrator for the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium (SAUSHEC) 59 MDW Surgical Critical Care/ Acute Care Surgery Fellowship. Responsible for coordination between OTSG, BAMC, 959MDW/ 59MDW GME,59 MDWUTHSC, San Antonio, TX; STVHCS, San Antonio, Texas well as any other outside rotations which may be used.

Assists the Program Director in administering the fellowship program by providing technical and administrative support in the areas of accreditation, program requirements, and academic records.

Ensures program compliance with the BAMC and 59 MDW GME Office's evaluation program. Responsible for designs, complies, distributes evaluation to ensure completion of rotation evaluation, staff evaluations, rotation critiques, intern and resident rotation critiques, self-evaluations, research evaluations for each resident. Responsible for accurate and timely completion of all evaluations and record keeping associated with the process using the New Innovations software to include analysis of master training schedule and specific rotation issues affecting Surgical Critical Care/Acute Care Program.

Utilizes practical knowledge of Surgical Critical Care/Acute Care Surgery Fellowship and General Surgery Residency Program to respond to inquiries from fellowship candidates and provide information relevant to the program, such as rotations. Schedules interviews with applicants and interviewers. Maintains academic records for fellows and residents; independently researches and resolves discrepancies in information or missing data. Maintains current knowledge on program accreditation requirements and notifies appropriate individuals/offices of changes that affect accreditation. Provides guidance and assistance to the Program Director and Associate Director in planning and developing Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs, fellowship didactic sessions, training committee meetings, and other faculty meetings, in accordance with standards prescribed by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). Provides administrative support to the Program Director, including scheduling of meetings, preparation of agendas, recording and maintaining meeting minutes, development of reports and provision of data to the various program committees. Implementation of policies developed by the committees. Responsible for coordinating and tracking ongoing quality assurance projects. Performs budget execution and administration work involving the monitoring of obligations incurred and the actual expenditures of a budget with different sources of funding provided for the Fellowship program. Maintains budget data and tracks use of funds. Acquires and maintains funds derive from educational gifts and grants. Subsequently, coordinates purchase of educational materials/training aids and coordinates invitation and arrangements for external speakers to fellowship education.
