• Revised and created multiple KCPD policy manuals and improved division’s inventory management. Wrote several KCPD standard operating procedure (SOP) manuals.
• As Operations Sergeant, supervised Detectives and six Division Analysts, while maintaining the daily operations and administration of the Law Enforcement Resource Center, which included four units and more than 30 sworn and civilian staff.
• Supervised two Detectives that worked directly with Missouri Probation and Parole Officers supervising area offenders. Participated in monthly meetings with Probation and Parole Supervisors and assisted in developing inter-department procedures.
• Became the KCPD subject matter expert for liquor laws and helped to develop the department’s nuisance business ordinance.
• Created and regularly taught a “Laws of Liquor” class at the Police Academy to train sworn members and entrant officers.
• As Field Sergeant, supervised six officers and carried out chain of command orders. Counseled and evaluated staff to ensure productivity and performance standards.
• Department liaison for KC NOVA (KC No Violence Alliance), a multi-agency organization that coordinated to decrease violent crimes. Provided administrative support and reporting, and produced and disseminated documents used in monthly KCPD Governing Board meetings with the Kansas City Mayor, KCPD Police Chief, Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office, FBI, ATF, various non-profits, and community members. • Participated in KC NOVA’s South enforcement efforts. A department led community- centered operation involving canvassing, community meetings and events, enforcement activities and coordination with multiple city agencies for services. The effort resulted in a 12% decrease in crime in the area during the two-month enforcement period.
• Administered the KCPD’s East enforcement efforts over four months, resulting in a 20% decrease in overall crime and a 14% decrease in violent crime.
• Frequently selected to provide conflict resolution and active shooter training for area non-profit organizations.
• Responsible for identifying and vetting participants, supervising officers and coordinating with area non-profits for resources for the department’s Teens in Transition summer jobs program for at-risk youth.
• Regularly selected to represent the KCPD at local, regional and national community events. Organized and led dozens of community events to recruit, inform and build community relationships.
