M.H.A. – Mental Health Assistant - This position helped me learn patience and compassion in a hostile environment as I dealt with abused, at-risk and troubled teens from broken homes.
As an M.H.A., I assisted in Anger Management treatment for kids ranging from the ages of 8 to 19 years old, boys and girls, who were court appointed to start and finish their treatment.
Many of these children/teens came from broken homes, were abused physically or mentally, and at-risk kids who through their anger, abused and attempted to kill those who did them harm or just anyone they could find. Others were there as sexual offenders, kids whose parents could not control their anger and as the last resort before sent to prison.
I also assisted with the duty of making sure the children attended school to receive their education, by a charter school from The Texas State University of San Marcos.
