Project envisaged was to set up grass root PTA - Para-xylene complex along with related utilities, Port Facilities & offsite.
Project progress: Technology tie up, design conference, TTD preparation, land acquisition, site up-gradation, detailed engineering contracting (EPC).
Headed the Project team for the implementation of project.
Project out lay: US$ 800 million.
Project was abandoned after one and half year because of the external economic and other internal financial problems.
Company ran into financial problems and I left to join Larsen & Toubro.
Gas Authority of India Ltd. INDIA April 4th, 1990 to November 3rd, 1996.

I was responsible for configuring total petrochemical business where GAIL was venturing for the first time.

The job involved implementing grass root India’s first Pure Terephthelic Acid Plant (PTA-Plant) using ICI Technology.
Was In-charge for process technology transfer.
Headed Design Conference. Also led the engineers team to ICI, Wilton UK for engineering work participation and training of the Reliance operation team.
Participated & interacted with detailed engineering contractor John Brown for project implementation
Overseeing the project implementation & commissioning.
Underwent specialized training in project management for implementation of the petrochemical and polymer unit (with focus on PTA unit) at ICI - WILTON - UK during 1986.
Underwent specialized training in plant safety (SHE) management & for its implementation at Reliance (RIL) Patal Ganga Complex for the petrochemical and polymer unit (with focus on PTA unit) at ICI - WILTON - UK during 1986.
Headed the team which stayed back at Wilton to prepare operating instruction and emergency procedure for the Pure Terephthelic Acid Plant.
Planned, supervised and carried out anodizing of the Titanium parts of Reactors, Heat Exchangers, etc. Such anodizing process was undertaken for the first time in India.
Planned and got implemented the pre-commissioning and commissioning activities. PTA Plant was successfully commissioned and began commercial production .
Took performance tests of critical machinery like Air Compressor, Reactor Feed Pump, etc.
